St Johns drops to 33 from 31 today in NET simply because an 8 win team ,San Diego St demolishes an inferior opponent and they move to 31 from 34 , and we are a 13 win team. Watchout for heartache later and win em all by big margins! Coach can not let them play around and blow any possessions with stupid play! Big East is being devalued in my opinion again!

The NET has definite flaws. My guess is we dropped because Seton Hall which has a terrible NET beat DePaul by 6 even though it was OT, which continues to devalue our big win over them.

Also why is Houston #4? They have no quad 1 wins. Two close losses to Auburn and Alabama which is good. They also lost to San Diego State. The main reason is they blow out a lot of teams.
 
Another flaw is the removal of a Quad 1 win when that opponent slips in the NET ratings. I get the evergreen changes, but why penalize the team that defeats a Q1 team. That Q1 win should be in the bank for Selection Sunday paperwork.
 
The Johnnie’s have it all in front of them and while I never attempt to predict the future outcomes, I believe if the approach to the Xavier game is consistently committed to by players and coaches, they will be fine in regards to the tournament.
I posted before a game was played IMO this team would rise or fall on their defense. The defensive effort and all-around toughness against Xavier will win them a lot of games.

Agree 1000% !! But where is the lack of commitment coming from? Players? Coaches?Both?
Also in Post game interviews Pitino keeps harping on a lack of attention to scouting reports hurting themselves in games.
With our inability to hit 3s at any decent percentage, they CANNOT ever let up on D , especially guarding the 3. AND, we have to overwhelm teams with our speed and our steals, consistently, NOT sometimes!

And for any player not tobe in top condition, especially Kadary ,is counter productive to our ability to win at a high rate!

We’ve won 8 of our last 9 games and the one loss was by one point on the road. Seems like an odd time to be talking about lack of commitment.

Not referring to lack of commitment to winning, need a consistent commitment to defending the 3 every night and playing at a faster pace that cause turnovers. Thats all i meant, and i do believe they are very committed to winning. They just need to stick to the right formula!
 
Johnnies improve 3 spots in KenPom, from #22 to #19, after beating #44 (previously #41) Villanova by 12!

Definitely a good shot at a ranking on Monday, and this time it'd be a lot sweeter than the first time we were ranked, given that ranking was primarily based on preseason hype.

I agree Moose, we need to get healthy or even if we are ranked on Monday we won’t hold it. We’ll take an L or two. This team , as tough as they are, cannot survive long term with Smith , Dunlap and Glover out. They only way they might be able to is if they get significant contributions from kids like Liotopolis and Ayo.
