2024-25 Rankings

2025 Bracket Matrix out with their initial poll. We're @ #7, as is yukon. Marquette is a #2 seed. http://www.bracketmatrix.com/

Also Creighton an 11 seed. Sounds about right for the conference now: one high seed, two teams with decent seeds, and one right on the bubble. I'm expecting 3-4 teams to get in, with Marquette, UConn, and St. John's all being likely.

Pretty mediocre year thus far for the conference, but at least we're just one year into a media contract rather than negotiating a new one.

Creighton one injury from guaranteeing a 4th spot.

For NET, we are 37.
9 of 11 BE in top 76.
Prov, Xavier, butler all are 74, 75, 76.

Some that matter:

Virginia at 103. Top 100 would be quad 2.

New Mexico at 87. Top 75 would be quad 2.

K state 107. Top 75 would be quad 2.

Baylor 18. Would need to drop out of top 50 to move to Q2 loss.

Georgia 26. Would need to drop out of top 50 to move to Q2 loss

Good stuff, it's a shame the NET formula is private because it does seem our NET should be higher. Only lost by a combined 4 points to #18 and #26, while all wins were by double digits.

The other major metrics have us a lot higher:
#14 in KenPom
#15 in Bart Torvik
#28 in BPI

Maybe this year NET is focusing less on margins and more on simply W/Ls, but I also feel NET is undervaluing several of our opponents and expect them (and us) to move up. I'd be surprised if our NET doesn't improve as the season goes on, as long as we continue playing at a similar level.

if we got 2-0 this week (we have to right?) - Im confident we'll be back in the top 25...

Big Week.. there seems to be a consensus out there that we are a Tourney Team from the "pundits". I certainly think we are (shocker)- and we can compete for Top of the League.

These two games are "Prove it" games. Watched each of these teams play... while certainly improved- we should Smack DePaul at Home. (them getting hot from 3 is a bit of a Worry.... And Providence is just not very impressive. I think that should be a double digit win away from home.

Think we Open open up -12.5 vs Depaul.... 20 point Win

84 percent chance to make the NCAA according to this. Let's get the early wins!

I think the far greater issue for the ACC is KenPom has one school in the top 25. Duke at #3. Clemson/UNC/Pitt are 27/28/29. Big East has three in the top 15 (Marquette 9, UConn 12, STJ 14)

Bottom half are equally bleak. The stupid size of the ACC makes it look worse.

Big East
Butler: 74
Providence: 79
DePaul: 98
Seton Hall: 132

ACC
Stanford: 83
NC State: 84
Notre Dame: 87
Miami: 96
Virginia: 101
Syracuse: 106
Wake Forest: 107
Georgia Tech: 110
Cal: 122
Virginia Tech: 143

I had no idea SMU was in the ACC... and completely forgot about Stanford, Cal.

Thank college football for that

... and SMU's $2 billion endowment which made it possible for SMU to surrender an estimated $200M in ACC TV revenue over its first 9 years of league membership as an inducement for the ACC to issue the invitation for membership.

Is the takeaway from this that we don’t have any quad one or quad two wins to date?
