2024-2025 Schedule

Friday of Super Bowl weekend.

Also I can tell you the League office is not happy with Jon Rothstein. Someone is leaking this to him...

Mint....
Yeah, it's been annoying that the games are being released haphazardly. I would imagine the league would be irked as well.

Jon does this every year, I'm pretty sure it's intentionally done marketing by the Big East. A lot of companies "leak" product details to publications as part of a build up to an official announcement. In this case the Big East is getting a lot more press to highlight individual games over the course of weeks as opposed to just one big news dump where it'll be out of the news cycle within a day.

The Big East can do a lot better with social media, but this is one area they've done well in.

To my knowledge I am not aware of Jon getting BE schedule scoops b4 they are announced. I know he gets a lot of non-conference schedule matchups before they are officially announced by the schools. "Source-Rutgers is playing Stony Brook on November 11 at the RAC..."

But either way I can tell you the league is not happy. From what I am told these are not intentional leaks.

He's done Big East schedule leaks before (not just OOC), can't remember how far back but definitely last year he leaked a bunch leading up to the official release.

That's interesting if the Big East is not intentionally doing this. Leaks are a very big part of online marketing, I myself do them for companies and sign NDAs to not disclose info before a certain date and time. This seemed in-line with that, he's flooding social media feeds with random Big East dates and hyping up the official schedule release (which is how I found out it's supposed to release soon).

That said, I have zero connections to anyone related to college basketball so your source would know better than I would. It did seem intentional to me and great marketing, especially given he's a TV partner for the league, but tbh this being unintentional would be totally in-line with the Big East's mediocre marketing efforts. If what your source said is true then if anything the Big East should be thanking Rothstein for all of the free marketing.

So much for hosting Gtown on Lou’s B’day.

Also noticed on official SJU website, the location for K-State game has been updated from TBA to Carnesecca Arena. No surprise there.

February 1 vs Providence will be a day game, probably 12:00 (Knicks play the Lakers at 8:30). That and New Mexico (which we've already established will be a day game) are the only days we share MSG with another event.

Last year, the last two teams we played for the first time were DePaul and Georgetown. This year, it's Marquette and UCONN. I'm sure that wasn't by accident (and is probably fair, TBH).

Bare minimum, they need to be 7-4 going into that first Marquette game (maybe even 8-3).

I've been saying it all offseason, but this team needs to be ready right away. I don't expect a finished product by openening night, but I want us to be much closer to one then we were last year.
