2024/2025 Roster

Pitino hits nail on the head:
“Zuby did not have an offensive rebound, which is disturbing to me,” Pitino said after St. John’s rallied for a 96-73 win over Quinnipiac at Carnesecca Arena. “That’s two games in a row where he didn’t rebound, so we may have to go with Vince.”

Silly Donavan nailed this by saying he could easily see Vince take over Zuby"s starting center job a fact confirmed by a Zach B article in tiday's NY Post.

A good shooter will thrive on this team w Smith and Kadary so proficient at finding open guys. Continue to take advantage Brady.
Best season to be a shooter here in many years. If Luis ever starts kicking the ball, it’s over. He attracts the entire opposing team every drive…like a struggling animal in water filled with crocodiles.

I didn’t think effort on the glass was going to be an issue with Zuby. Losing his starting spot could be the wake up call he needs.

I would guess Rick's message to Brady is "Keep moving without the ball, keep shooting when you get good looks, keep your head up and keep passing the ball - you'll get it back on this team. Keep letting the game come to you, and don't worry about your points." As a kid who plays like a coach's son, pretty sure Brady already gets all of that.

Rick giveth (Co-captain) and Rick taketh away (starting). It's tough playing for God.

Definitely trying to light a fire under Zuby for thinking differently about what's important.

Remember Tariq Owen's dad? He would go on and on about how Tariq deserved more shots and more points. Renard sells cars or something like that. He transfers to a better team and instead of given license to shoot more from the perimeter, is told to rebound, defend, block shots and shoot less from outside. His team goes to the Finals but his stat line almost the same.

Joe Lapchick schooled Bobby Knight about coaching. He asked Knight, "Do you know what the most important rule is?" He then told him, "The nost important rule is there are no rules. Each kid is different and you have have to treat them differently"

So he coddles Sim and Brady but right now Zuby needs a little threat and kick in the ass after a 29 pt 13 reb game that prob went to his head a little. Rick needs Zuby to be a monster rebounder, a defender, a rim protector FIRST. If he scores, great. But if he doesn't do the primary things, well, he may sit a little till he does.

Tariq made a good move TT lost championship game in OT he was on a team that made quite a run as opposed to a program that went nowhere as usual.

The main point isn't whether Tariq made a good move (he did, obviously). The point is that Owens transferred in the belief that he would become more involved in the offense, socore a bunch of points, and showcase himself as an NBA draft pick. Turns out Tariq is just another guy toiling away professionally far from the show. Nothing to be ashamed of, of course. But when utilized properly, Owens helped propel Texas Tech to the championship game.

Rick knows what it takes to win in college, and a big who isn't snaring close to double digit rebounds on average and providing significant interior defense, is a liability even when providing offense.

Zuby is very coachable, and a great kid from a great family. Let’s see how he responds to the challenge Rick has laid down.
