2023-24 Roster

Pretty irrelevant now and Bob Mckillop had not established any reputation yet at Davidson whatsoever compared to Mike Jarvis. Bob's success at Davidson didn't begin for another 5 years after the Jarvis hire.
I agree with this. I wanted McKillop after Jarvis was fired. He would have been a home run at that time, and would have been our coach for almost 20 years. It's an academic discussion now, but fun to speculate...

As of now IMO the only players that are givens are Soriano and Alleyne. Every other kid is a question mark. That does not mean that Jenkins or Taylor can’t be or won’t be good. Just means we only have 2 proven BE players.

Taylor isn't a question mark. I'm not saying he'll be an All-BE player, but at a minimum we know he can start for a Power team. In regards to Jenkins, he's a top 50 portal player. How many teams out there won't be filling some starter spots with mid-major portal players and/or unproven high school students? A large portion of the top portal players are actually from mid-majors.

Taylor was the second leading scorer on a p6 team as a soph.
Again I never saw him play, so just what I am going by. Team was bad and his scoring and rebounding doesn’t jump out at you.
We play this game every year and are always disappointed. Until proven otherwise I only trust the 2 kids.
I thought Jones would be really good here so….. Not saying I am an expert

🤦‍♂️

You lose any credibility by actually trying to argue that Pitino's first team at Providence or Kentucky were in any way decent let alone good and therefore he underperformed those years...lol

That argument is so stupid it doesn't pass the laugh or smell test.

And btw Pitino did not inherit an NBA pg at Providence in as much as his coaching put that kid in the NBA. And if you don't believe me ask the kid since he was set to transfer to Fairfield when Rick took over...lol
I don’t think that was his argument. Why do you have to be so hostile with your posts?

Taylor played in a power conference?!?!?! lol

Averaged 11.6 and 3.7 on 11 win team
None of you have ever seen him play
We are dumping on a double digit scorer from a major conference because he was on a poor team none of us have seen him play?

Oh boy. We do know a couple of people who have seen him play, the coaching staff. They think he is worth it, and I am leaning on their scouting in this case.

Who dumped on who????
No one on here has seen him play more than once and based on his stats he is still an unknown.
That is all
Anyone who says he is better or worse than anyone from last year is talking out of their arse.

You are dumping because you said none of us have seen him play. But the staff has and they believe is worth it.

You speak in dizzying circles.

Those aren't starters numbers????

You know every guy doesn't average 17-20 who starts.
Again if going by numbers he has similar numbers to Jones on worse team.
Def more efficient
All I am saying is not saying he will be ALL BE sight on seen. I have and either do you have any idea how he will be.

How about this? Let's all agree to be happy when good players sign here. Like, just for example, double-digit scorers from Power conferences? Anyone heard of anybody like that?...

Some of us seem to want to be upset about:

1) losing mediocre players from last year's roster - and that's mostly who we lost.
2) losing top portal guys to other schools - and that's happened also

And yet cannot be happy about:

3) getting good players from mid-majors to commit here - and that describes at least two of the Iona guys, and maybe all three
4) getting players with proven track records with Power conferences - that describes Alleyne and Taylor

Am I missing something, or do some of us on this board want to exist in a permanent negativity loop?

Aside from a handful of top players (who are usually not available), the vast majority players are all foreign to us (and seeing a particular recruit play once does not count).

We are basing it on the staffs opinion. The same staff that is lead by a hall of fame coach.

It is ok to sometimes drop an argument.

Fair enough. But I think he has the talent and the coach to make him a Big East starter. If he isn't Pitino has put together a good team.

Also, Ron Artest scored 11.5 points a game his first year. Not comparing the players but he had "similar numbers" to Jones and him.
