With the Cragg/ Anderson cup cake schedules being a thing of the past and less games at CA seventeen wins won’t be that bad.
Ok, I take it back. 30 wins and final four!Just go away!
Very much agree! I think we’ll be scrappy and competitive but, short of a real last minute upgrade in talent, we’ll struggle. With the Cragg/ Anderson cup cake schedules being a thing of the past and less games at CA seventeen wins won’t be that bad.
I think Dingle would bump Jenkins not Alleyne.PG - Jenkins (1)

Current main targets and where they slot in if they commit:
Mgbako (Starts at PF, bumps Slazinski to bench)
Dingle (Starts at SG, bumps Alleyne to 1st G off bench)
Thomasson (Starts at SG or 1st G off bench)
Dunlap (Mid bench piece)
Mahoney (10th or 11th)
Assuming RJ Luis is out of the picture with Taylor on board.
Thomasson seeming unlikely.
I wouldn’t be so quick to slide Alleyne to the bench over Taylor if we were somehow to land Dingle. He started for good Va Tech teams and Taylor started on Oregon State squads that were a combined 6 wins to 34 losses in conference.PG - Jenkins (1)

Agreed. My biggest concern so far is we have some solid to decent pieces. But outside of Soriano who else instills fear or keeps coaches up at night on the roster so far? We have 1 clear great player & a bunch of solid guys. I’ve been saying assuming we don’t pull rabbit out of hat with a few big time guys, making NCAAT with this group with only 1 clear great player would be among best coaching performances I’ve seen. I truly hope Pitino can coach them up a lot.So it's Joel and a bunch of role players.
On paper this roster instills fear in no one.
But hopefully Rick can coach them up to the full extent of their abilities and maybe turn them into something.
Why? Pitino won 19 games his first season at Louisville with 5 top 50 recruits. You don’t think 17 wins is in the range of reasonable outcomes?Just go away!
Is it going out on a limb to think that Rick P. uses FT shooting as one of his metrics with regards to recruiting? I don’t recall us ever placing any sort of premium on FT shooters in the last. Maybe it’s attention to detail and practice habits? Those FT’s will will us games down the stretch for sure btw. Underrated stat category much like kickers in the nfl.FT% from last year, all players from last year and next year. Bolded are players on next year's team.
Alleyne 87.1%
Conway 87.0%
Taylor Jr. 80.1%
Jenkins 78.6%
Jones 78.5%
Davis 76.3%
Slazinski 75.0%
Storr 75.0%
Soriano 73.0%
Alexander 72.4%
Curbelo 70.5%
Addae-Wusu 69.1%
Mathis 67.6%
Pinzon 64.3%
Stanley 55.6%
King 54.5%
Nyiwe 28.6%
Traore N/A
Keita N/A
Simpson N/A
Williams N/A
So, out of players who played significant minutes (not counting the last 4 players who were all <3.5 MPG and didn't shoot any FT), 7 out of 17 players are on next year's team, and all of those 7 players rank within the top 9 (out of 17). There are 8 players from last year who were lower than anyone on next year's team. Just one stat, but it's something that will obviously transition regardless of level. It'll also be a relief to actually want to see players go to the line.
But yeah, team of role players. Pitino doesn't know who he wants.
All depends. Who struck fear in anybody from Florida Atlantic this last year? Name one player? Gotta build a team and be better than last year which is first step. Next step is becoming big time…Agreed. My biggest concern so far is we have some solid to decent pieces. It was actually 4, and two of 'em were freshmen. Sure, it's possible our upcoming team could only win 17 games. It's also possible they could win 22 games as they'll be a very experienced team THAT has yet to be finalized. Why? Pitino won 19 games his first season at Louisville with 5 top 50 recruits. 4 of them were RSCI top 50. Another, Ellis Myles, was ranked as high as 27th and top 50 by many other services. He averaged 8.9 pts and 9.3 boards that season. It was actually 4, and two of 'em were freshmen. Sure, it's possible our upcoming team could only win 17 games. I'll make a wager with anyone who believes this team will only win 17 games, once the roster has been completed.

Ellis Myles wasn't in the top 50 of the 2000 class per RSCI.4 of them were RSCI top 50. Another, Ellis Myles, was ranked as high as 27th and top 50 by many other services. He averaged 8.9 pts and 9.3 boards that season.
That you ban yourself from posting on here ever again. To add, if you attempt to return (as either I or Maher will figure who's behind the name, lol) that the mods can automatically ban you again and again. What’s the wager? I’m interested with the hope I lose
Lol and what if you lose? That you ban yourself from posting on here ever again. To add, if you attempt to return (as either I or Maher will figure who's behind the name, lol) that the mods can automatically ban you again and again.
I'm gonna send some of you packing, lol.
That’s what I wrote. Nobody on our roster is top 100 RSCI either, and I don’t believe any of them made any top 100 lists. RSCI is just a consensus that included some very random rankings and excluded others.Ellis Myles wasn't in the top 50 of the 2000 class per RSCI.
You posting doesn't have have affect me either. That's my wager.Lol and what if you lose?
You posting or not doesn’t affect me so would rather have some cash. Better yet loser donates $50 to this site?
Who was on Providence's roster that was top 50 other than Delray Brooks? Who was on his first Kentucky squad that was top 50 other than Jamal Mashburn (frosh)? That’s what I wrote. That 19-13 Louisville team had a junior Reece Gaines, who was the 15th overall pick in the NBA draft the following year. Myles was all conference. Luke Whitehead was a monster. It was a talented team and the top 5 leading scorers were sophs or juniors.
Our team this year won’t be as talented but it will be more experienced. If you combined the teams, that Louisville team would have 4 starters. I think 19 wins is a very solid expectation. 16-20 wins is probably the range.
Sounds good. But if $50 is too steep for you just say the word and you can donate what’s within your budget. You posting doesn't have have affect me either. That's my wager.
$50 is too easy. I want something in which you'll be itching to do but you can't do it.
