Very much agree! I think we’ll be scrappy and competitive but, short of a real last minute upgrade in talent, we’ll struggle.
I think Dingle would bump Jenkins not Alleyne.
I wouldn’t be so quick to slide Alleyne to the bench over Taylor if we were somehow to land Dingle. He started for good Va Tech teams and Taylor started on Oregon State squads that were a combined 6 wins to 34 losses in conference.
I’d think Pitino would want Alleyne’s shooting to complement the driving of Jenkins and Dingle.

Agreed. My biggest concern so far is we have some solid to decent pieces. But outside of Soriano who else instills fear or keeps coaches up at night on the roster so far? We have 1 clear great player & a bunch of solid guys. I’ve been saying assuming we don’t pull rabbit out of hat with a few big time guys, making NCAAT with this group with only 1 clear great player would be among best coaching performances I’ve seen. I truly hope Pitino can coach them up a lot.
Why? Pitino won 19 games his first season at Louisville with 5 top 50 recruits. You don’t think 17 wins is in the range of reasonable outcomes?
Is it going out on a limb to think that Rick P. uses FT shooting as one of his metrics with regards to recruiting? I don’t recall us ever placing any sort of premium on FT shooters in the last. Maybe it’s attention to detail and practice habits? Those FT’s will will us games down the stretch for sure btw. Underrated stat category much like kickers in the nfl.

It was actually 4, and two of 'em were freshmen. Sure, it's possible our upcoming team could only win 17 games. It's also possible they could win 22 games as they'll be a very experienced team THAT has yet to be finalized.
I'll make a wager with anyone who believes this team will only win 17 games, once the roster has been completed.
4 of them were RSCI top 50. Another, Ellis Myles, was ranked as high as 27th and top 50 by many other services. He averaged 8.9 pts and 9.3 boards that season.

With 4 scholarships left there's still some glaring needs.
Another ballhandler or two.
An alpha Guard/Wing that can carry the team to a win down the stretch of a game vs a quality team.
Another PF to go with Slazinski.
A backup C.
The first three can be a bit of a venn diagram of sorts, ie Dingle being another ballhandler + an alpha Guard. A guy like Brady Dunlap doesn't fill any of those needs but would be a nice piece to have as well.

That’s what I wrote. Nobody on our roster is top 100 RSCI either, and I don’t believe any of them made any top 100 lists. RSCI is just a consensus that included some very random rankings and excluded others.
That 19-13 Louisville team had a junior Reece Gaines, who was the 15th overall pick in the NBA draft the following year. Myles was all conference. Luke Whitehead was a monster. It was a talented team and the top 5 leading scorers were sophs or juniors.
Our team this year won’t be as talented but it will be more experienced. If you combined the teams, that Louisville team would have 4 starters. I think 19 wins is a very solid expectation. 16-20 wins is probably the range.

Who was on Providence's roster that was top 50 other than Delray Brooks? Who was on his first Kentucky squad that was top 50 other than Jamal Mashburn (frosh)?
