2022 Mets

This is like what the Yanks did with Jeter when Buck was the manager.

I am guessing the injury he had recently delayed him and then they wanted to give Vientos a shot which worked out as well as Ruf. There are two ways to look at the pressure. These are huge games and he will put pressure on himself. From my perspective and I hope most sane people there is absolutely no way he could be worse then Ruf/Vientos and he gets some experience heading into the playoffs which he is supposed to play in as well.

I thought Vientos was starting to look more comfortable. Ruf was rough to watch. Complete zero. Hopefully, Alvarez will just relax and swing the bat. He has big time power. Of course, easier said than done. He’s just 20 Years old. Wow.

Vientos hit a home run in Oakland and did have another game recently. He looks the part. I think they have to drop Ruf or Vientos to make room for Alvarez. Let's see what happens.

Bullpen is the key tonight. If Smith-Otto-Diaz can go 7-8-9 after 6 bounce back innings from Jake we got this.

Mets:
Nimmo CF
Alonso 1B
Lindor SS
Canha LF
McNeil RF
Escobar 3B
Alvarez DH
Guillorme 2B
Nido C

Atlanta:
Acuna Jr. RF
Swanson SS
Harris CF
Riley 3B
Olsen 1B
d'Arnaud C
Contreras DH
Rosario LF
Arcia 2B

Braves just relentless and may edge our guys for division, but Mets have really given us a great season with more to go post season.
No matter what happens ALL is not lost. The high leverage situation is good to get ready for the playoffs.

Plus, this is EXACTLY why they signed Scherzer. Very few guys ANYONE would rather in this spot tonight. No guarantees ever and the offense needs to show up. Win tonight, and they have the one game lead AND the tiebreaker….so.. if not are chances to win the division are in bad shape.

By the way, personally I’d rather the bye, BUT there are quite a few examples in sports where the team that keeps playing vs the “bye“ team have fared well. Still a lot to play for.

Sigh.
Our win-now team was rolling by the time we hit the trade deadline and we never took the chance to get better.
It shows in just how painful this lineup can be.
Can't rely on Pete and Lindor to drive in all the runs.
I hope Uncle Steve learns from this and leans into his GM now that conservative Sandy is gone.
