2022 Mets

not sure if this is true but what I'm starting to think is by him only facing RHP which was his his wheelhouse that since he is seeing more continuous success by not facing LHP that gets his confidence even higher now and seeing even better production
He reminds me in shape and swing of early 80s Rusty Staub.

I love that Vogelly keeps his gut. And has it just banging out.

If he wanted to get rid of it I believe these sports teams have workout equipment and trainers.'

Keeping it old school

I greatly admired Rusty for his baseball and charity work. Please remember Rusty in the early '80's was at the end of his career and came back to NY and the Mets as the NL equivalent of a DH--a "full time" pinch hitter. He was a good 10 years older than V-man. Le Grand Orange in his first Mets tour was the same age as V-man and was in no way obese as V-man. If he remains a Met, it will be interesting if he gets in shape this coming winter. Looks like they would never consider him playing the field as roster lists his position as DH.

Ok, we won but I'm not a fan of Bucks's strategy. I get the "win today" thinking but Diaz is lost for tomorrow and maybe one more game. I hope we get exceptional games from our starters the next two games to make up for it.
On the positive side, Naquin was the difference in this game. Who knew that he was a slugger?:ROFLMAO: Vogs coming through again and Polar Bear continuing his league leading run of HR's and RBI's. Carassco wasn't his best but he did well against this team.
Walker tomorrow and Scherzer and Peterson on Saturday. Buck is counting on a complete game from Walker and/or Scherzer I guess.
At lease now the Braves can't leave NY in first place. Even if we split the next four games we're still 4 1/2 up.

Personally for this first game I was ok with Diaz going 2. Had to get this first win. I think he will be good for saturday if we need him
Absolutely agree.
Get the first one and put pressure on the Braves. No matter what happens, the Mets are assured of being in first place after this series.
I will just sit back and watch Buck run this thing.
He has pushed the right buttons many more times than not.

I’ll trust Buck on this one. Diaz had 5 days off. I have to think spitting up a 5 run lead at home would have been a disaster. We ALL would have been a little salty If this one got away. He rode the horse. He won the bet. We are at the point of the season where you win the game today. The risk is tomorrow as he probably won’t have Diaz. However, he locked down the game TODAY. We probably have to sweat out a Lugo, May, and whoever game. Heck, Walker has been good for us. Maybe he takes us deep tomorrow night.

I too am eating some Voglebach humble pie. He’s feasting on RHP. I also expected nothing from Naquin but I’ll be damned. Tonight alone he paid off.

And that's why he's the manager of the Mets and I'm not. Using Diaz that way just makes me nervous. I hate that we can't go to him tonight if necessary, and maybe tomorrow as well. You also don't want him to injure his arm and lose him for the rest of the season.

Diaz is a professional athlete in his prime. He can pitch 2 innings. Mariano used to do that back in the Wetteland days and he's now in the HOF.

Not saying Diaz is Mariano but in Buck We Trust

Diaz had not thrown since last Friday and only threw 29 pitches. I think he could use him today if needed but wont because that would shut him down all day Saturday for the doubleheader. I like asking your closer to do things occasionally during the season if it is something you might ask for in the post season.
