And deGrom can hit!  Fantastic performance last night.  It was a piece of Met's history.  Jake is definitely worth the price of admission.
eh, his plus-minus was 0. Gave up 2 hits and only had 2 hits himself. /media/kunena/emoticons/grin.png

There was an old joke from around 1962 or 63, when the Mets scored something like 24 runs.   It may have actually happened.   Two guys talking sports.

"Did you hear the Mets scored 24 runs today?"

Response:

"That's great.   Did they win or lose?"

I swear that when I heard Jake pitched 9 shutout innings of 2 hit, 15 strikeout ball, I wasn't certain they had won till I checked the boxscore.

If any of you guys plan on hitting a game in May since most of us are fully vaccinated plus will be wearing masks anyway let me know maybe we get a few guys to a game night game afternoon game doesn’t really matter to me

Make it a day game.  Nights can be brutally cold in may
I’ll  check the schedule

Painful to watch our lineup just get mowed down by a mediocre pitcher last night.

Getting mowed down by mediocre pitching has been a nightly occurrence

deGrom version of struggling: 6 innings so far, 3 hits, 1 run, 9Ks, and his team way behind , 1-0.
I swear I'm really starting to hate them all but Jake and maybe 2 others

Unless something changes, all they are going to be playing for is a Cy Young.

Mets really had their hitting shoes on!  Shut out, 2 hits, struck out 15 times. Waste another great effort by deGrom.  They should only pitch him against opposing pitchers who are total bums so hopefully the SchMets might eke out a freaking run or two. #DISGUSTING

it's really disgusting

With these softball rules on doubleheaders (7 inning games), new rules saying relief pitchers must face three batters, why not put in more little league rules and let their coaches or dads pitch to them underhanded

The way they play defense, a ground ball home run is definitely on the horizon.  Orange slices for everyone after the game!

At least we know the exit velocity on a ball hit to the shortstop.

A close relative of mine from CT just signed a letter of intent to attend Northeastern for baseball.    There is an organization Perfect Game that has national tournaments and rates every kid by all these measurable stats, including exit velocity on throws by position, etc.     It weighs heavily on recruiting and MLB draft.    This kid is projected to be drafted at some point, and already 5 teams were considering entering him in the next MLB draft.    What ever happened to a trained eye saying, "That kid can play!"

Part of the problem, I think, is that if you go by "the trained eye" you can be told you are wrong (besides being a dinosaur). But if the stats say this kid should hit .300 or will get a strike out every 2.4 batters based upon spin rate of his curve ball on sunny days in May, you can't be wrong.
