I think the Lindor trade played a parrt into this plsu rumor that Toronto came in about 4 mill more per year. Wonder where we go next

All of a sudden the Mets don't look as much like a win at all costs franchise.   They are avoiding the luxury tax so havent exactly opened the checkbook for massive improvement, opting for McCann not Realmuto and passing on Springer after the Lindor blockbuster

I don't think it was this years money as much as future money. Hand wanted to close because closers get paid more money. If he was part of a Super bullpen without top closer stats, going forward he would have a harder time getting paid.

It's why BIlly Wagner wanted out of NY after he returned healthy from a serious injury.   I would pay at least 2 guys closer salary, probably 3, and dominate the 6th-9th innning of games after starters are done at 105 pitches.

I met Gabe Kaplan when we both did the Wall Street Decathlon about a decade ago. He may have gone on to make a billion dollars but I was faster and stronger than him despite the private coach he hired he was a decent guy
