SJU schedule
Creighton, Duke, and Marquette. Three straight on the road, will be a tough stretch. But then, we get 5 out of 6 at home, which is rare during conference season.
4 MSG games
fucking 4 msg games for the increased price ? If that shit happens next year I’m cancelling my season tix and will just buy on stubhub. That’s freaking embarrassing

Actually my son and I are going that route this season Mike.

I like the opening to the schedule. Obviously after last year, we need to get a win very early in BE play. @ SHU is a good redemption game. Vs Marq is a game we should win. @ Georgetown is another good redemption game. All 3 very winnable, and going 2/3 would help increase confidence and ease our way out of the cupcake OOC into conference play. Also, since we are not playing DePaul (and 2/3 on the road) a loss in any of these 3 games shouldn't hurt that much.

@ SHU
Vs Marq
@ GTown

If we lose all 3 heading into Nova (game 3), then we'll know early that it's time to look for a new HC. No excuses.

Marquette will not be easy, some analysts have them preseason top 25. Beating Marquette in what should be a raucous crowd at CA will be an excellent litmus test.

Actually, my season tickets went down $30 this year, and that's with one extra home game then last year. I guess Stormsaver package went up? Because regular season tix actually went down.

I know Marquette won't be easy, which is a good thing. None of the 3 games will be "easy" but all beatable. Since we beat Marquette twice last year, we should win at home. But... if we don't then won't be the end of the world.

All 3 games are winnable but not mandatory wins (such as @ DePaul, vs GTown at home). IMO it's a best case scenario.

With this schedule, we need to go 12-0 OOC and 12-6 in conference to have a chance to make the NCAA Tournamant

Go 2-2 in initial 4 games & be happy. 3-1 would make me very happy, but winning on road not easy, not to mention M’Q & Nova will be very tough this year.

Told my brother it wasn't worth it this year. Schedule is weak! Less games at msg, rather use funds on road trips

Good move! Increasing ticket prices after 3 straight losing seasons is an insult to the fans. They better hope more students attend the games.

12-1 OOC, and the 1 has to be Duke for there to be no harm, no foul.

I don't know how many conference games we'll need to win. That's something that will play out more over time.

Also, we can just win the Big East Tournament, and erase all doubt.

Just the “Storm Saver” package increased. although 30% was a bit too much imo. Not end of world, but a bit illogical.

OK, because the full package was $660, down $30 from last year (with an extra home game, to boot).

@John_Fanta

When @StJohnsBBall last made the tournament in 2014-15, the Red Storm went 6-2 in February. This upcoming yr, #SJUBB will play 5 of 6 at home to close Feb.

Feb. 9 - Prov (MSG)
Feb. 12 - Butler (CAR)
Feb. 17 - Nova (MSG)
Feb. 20 - @ Prov
Feb. 23 - SHU (MSG)
Feb. 28 - Xavier (CAR)

Personally, I'm digging the Saturday night games this year. Sacred Heart, Depaul, and Seton Hall all on a Saturday night (the latter at MSG). Also, Villanova is a Sunday night game, with the next day being the Presidents Day holiday, so that's really 4 games.

I don't like the penny pinching mentality in regards to limited MSG games. It just makes the school look weak. Hopefully they don't forget that without MSG, SJU loses their biggest appeal (aside from being in the Big East obviously).

That said, in regards to this year, I think 4 conference games isn't that bad.

We aren't good enough yet to draw fans for the Midwestern teams, which leaves us with only 4 Eastern opponents. Marquette is the best candidate of the Midwestern teams, but given the timing of the game (first home game) and how we performed last year, I rather play that at CA. That game is just about winning at CA gives us slightly better odds. We won't pack the Garden for a game on January 1.

All that said, the real problem is they couldn't find a real OOC opponent or two to play at MSG. I don't count the Princeton Tournament game.

I'll be buying on an individual game basis.

I look for crazy stuff, so of course, I'm intrigued by February 23.

It'll be New York vs. New Jersey day at MSG. Rangers-Devils at 1, St. John's-Seton Hall at 8. Hopefully, New York represents.

I think, with Heron, we can go 12-6 in the BEC, including 2 losses apiece versus Nova and M’Q, and 1 each against Butler and Providence.
That may be ‘rosy’ since it means we beat the Hall, Xavier, G*Town, and Creighton twice each.
We chall see.
