2018/19 Schedule

12 wins ooc 10-8 conference . Early to predict but I think we dance with that. 11 conference wouldn’t surprise me nor would 12 with Heron

With our lousy OOC schedule and increased importance that plays, I'd want to see 12-1 and 11-7 (with one BE tourney win) to be comfortable we're in.

I predict one of the teams headed into the Jan. 8 game will be undefeated . . . and it won't be the home team.

I hope you're right.

Honestly, if we're only 2-2 after that game, I think we're in good shape. 1-3 would be a disappointment, but we could recover from that, though we would have to play real well from that point on. 0-4 would be the only real disaster start, IMO. If that happens, we're likely playing for the Big East Tournament title, and nothing else the rest of the regular season.

I could see that. That’d mean we beat Marquette home, which is very possible—with Heron.

Princeton game at MSG is second game of holiday festival doubleheader. Columbia and Iona tip things off at 11 am.

Per the schedule page, the Georgia Tech game in Miami will have a noon start time, and will be broadcast on ESPNU.

1977 Power Memorial Academy HS #CHSAA Champs will attend teammate HC Chris Mullin #SJUBB home game this season #NYCBasketball

Mullin, I believe, played at Power Memorial as a freshman, then went to Xaverian when Power closed down.

A ranking of early season tournaments/events. Hey. we beat the Wooden Legacy, so it's not a total loss! To be fair, these are usually done 2 years in advance. Tough to tell what most teams will look like 2 years out.

14. Legends Classic
Dates: Nov. 19-20
Location: Barclays Center in New York
Matchups: St. John's vs. Cal, VCU vs. Temple
Comment: This field's appeal is all about St. John's and just how good it might be in 2018-19 under Chris Mullin. The program has fallen on hard times, having logged three consecutive losing seasons, but the presence of Shamorie Ponds and the addition of Mustapha Heron give the Red Storm a legitimate shot to surprise as a Big East contender. VCU and Temple -- teams that won a combined 35 games last season -- should also be a worthwhile matchup. Both are expected to finish around the middle of the pack in their respective leagues.

16 players in the picture, only 13 on scholarship, can someone ID the 3 walk-ons and give some particulars?

Same three walk-on as last year...

Justin Cole
Brandon Lawrence
Jay Campus

Justin is only one that seems physically able to compete.

Lawrence is a toothpick and was in a boot must of last season and Camus seems to be about 5'8".

All my hats are off to the walk-ons.
Dedicated Hoop-junkies all.
May the Hoop Gods bless them, and the team for which they toil.
Let’s go St. John’s.

Cole made a big play late in the Providence road game last year (even though we lost). Battled a Providence guy tooth and nail for loose ball, and was able to force the tie-up (SJU possession).

Those are probably the types of things these guys do in practice, to make our scholarship guys better.
