2017 Transfers

Getting back to 2017 Transfers....

Does anyone have any updates on the following transfers. Note to would-be responders: I know we are not getting these guys, but I would like to have my hopes dashed one more time. Then I will enjoy some other uplifting experiences like paying some bills and cleaning the bathrooms.

Suspect if they land Wilson, that will be it unless they find some big guy sitting in airport. :) Unlike many fans, I get impression staff feels good about what they have, right or wrong.

We are built to run with guards and wings but need to rebound to run so might be tough to run as much as we would like.

Has Williams picked a destination? With another year of conditioning, he could be really solid for us. Has that ship sailed?

Obviously I don't know but a kid on Bama Armond Davis announced he was transferring over a month ago and this week changed his mind and is staying. Anything is possible and if DW sees we don't bring in another big well, stranger things have happened.

I don't think Williams will change mind unless he gets no decent offers, but last year Ali B. announcement that he decided to return was right around this time.
 
I am not at all connected. However, about two weeks ago, I asked Zach about DWill returning. FWIW, at the time, he said he had asked the staff a few times about Williams and got the impression he would not be returning.

Is he an immediately eligible flake?
 
Ray Kasongo transferred to Iowa State from Tennessee(must know Tariq Owens). 6-9 230lbs. I just don't know the transfer rules enough. He sat out all of last year at Iowa State, now transferring without even playing a game for them. Iowa State just got 2 grad transfer big men and probably won't have enough playing time for Ray.

Tariq announced his transfer to St Johns in the spring of 2015, the same time that Ray announced he was signing with Tennessee.. So I'm not sure if they know each other since they wouldn't have been there at the same time.. However Kasongo would be a nice late addition for us IMO.. I would think he would be eligible immediately since he sat out a year. I can't imagine he would choose to be off the court another year even if he was unhappy about the 2 post players Iowa state signed.. Will be interesting to see what happens with this one.
 
Has good hands... Looks like he can handle a pass and is a true post player.. Transfers are Matt's speciality.. If he leaves Iowa state I'd love for them to grab this one.

I did stumble on this kid, Dwight Coleby. Immediately eligible. Power Forward 6'-9", 240. Transferring from Kansas.

he requested but as you stated just hasn't received release yet... Coleby would be a nice get too.. actually almost any big with some skills at this point would be a nice get...

He's from the Bahamas so he'll be fine in Flatbush.

with ships to burn and the way our "looks good to commit" guys are falling, id take a chance on a body like this kid. Remember we are an injury, suspension, or other (that always seems to find us ) from being very very thin up front
 
It's official now. Kasongo got his release... No reason this staff shouldn't go after him.. I'd be disappointed if they didn't at least make contact... Big solid body that can run the floor and has good hands..
