Unseld and Bill Walton. Sorry but Billy Singleton finishes third.Agree. But Unseld at 6'7 was a double wide. Reed was really only 6'8, Embry was 6'8, Russ was 6'9 as was Hayes. So except for Wilt, and Nate there was not much of a height difference. But you are right I would take an Unseld like 6'7 wide body on our team in a heart beat. The Baltimore Bullet won the NBA title with the 6'-7" (more like 6'-6") Wesley Unseld at center. And there were some pretty good big men in the league at that time. Guys like Wilt Chamberlain, Nate Thurmond, Willis Reed, Bill Russell, Wayne (The Wall) Embry, and Elvin Hayes, to name a few. (Our own Leroy Ellis was Unseld's back-up.) Our problem is we don't have a forecourt player who's even close to a Wes Unseld.
Unseld was something special, and possibly the best outlet passer ever, certainly one of the very, very best ... something Billy Singleton was pretty good at, too.
Totally agree about Walton. Always felt he was No. 2 to Unseld in that department. And whatever people think of his personality, when he was healthy, Walton was flat-out as good as it gets -- the total package.
