2017-2018 Season

Per Zach B

My Big East prediction as of today: Nova, Seton Hall, Xavier, Providence, Creighton, St. John's, Butler, Marquette, DePaul, Georgetown.

Which puts us on bubble which is what most expect. Well outside of those who will predict 25 wins then complain if we win 18.

One Kameron Rooks away from top 3.

I agree. Last year they won 14 game. They should improve next year, I'll go with 19-20 wins.
It goes back to that not getting a capable big man to go with Owens, if they could have gotten just one then maybe Owens could start knowing that they'll lose little with another big man coming in for him.
Now we have to pray Yakwe improves alot.

Not starting Owens vs. SHU could put in a 8-10pnt hole before Owens does come in, the Delgado factor.

Maybe we need to play some zone to protect Owens a little and it might be easier to defend a guy like Delgado that way than with Owens one on one.

The problem with a zone is it usually hurts your rebounding. Maybe a box and one?

Zones hurt defensive rebounding. But maybe a box and one if all else fails.

I would send Amar in and tell him he can burn all 5 fouls in the 1st half. Just make sure Delgado comes out with 3.

Word out of Jamaica is that St. John's is eyeing 3G look with Marcus Lovett, Shamorie Ponds, & Justin Simon with Bashir Ahmed at PF. #SJUBB

Do we really have any other options?

No surprise, but assuming those guys all get substantial minutes at those spots, then very little to divide among Clark Jr., Owens, Yakwe, Wilson that will keep them content...

And that's with Moose & Ali B resigned to clean up.

Clark is our best PF option.

another year of no depth, and it seems to be getting worse. I feel bad for the kids because we have talent. This team needs another body!!!

Appears that looks like it is going to be it for 17.Hope i am wrong and we get a surprise

At St. John's we don't learn from history, we just repeat the same recruiting mistakes regardless of who is the coach.

Fans are not satisfied with a bench of Clark, Owens, Mussini, Wilson, and senior Amar. Good luck coach Mullin!

The fact that Simon is talented enough to start has to be considered good news. If Wilson proves good enough to earn minutes as backup at forward would be another good sign. Mussini and Yawke will be needed but players with their talent are not going to get SJU to the top half of the Big East.
The coaching staff probably prefers playing a three guard lineup based on their success at Golden State.

If we ALL can see it how come they can't??????

also is Wilson definitely eligible ? Just imagine if he's not , we get dealt with an injury, oh and then throw in some foul trouble ......disaster. Coming our way at SJU! Love our players but we need help!!

I would disagree. We have had teams that were a lot worse off in recent years. I actually think we have good depth 1 through 3. We are definitely thin when it comes to true PF and center, but we have a talented bunch.

He's an A student. Graduated. See pic in the twitter feed on the right. Of all of the concerns and neuroses that a fan should rightfully have, this is a waste of energy. If you want to chew your nails and pull your hair for a few months about our lack of a big man, I'm with you on that.
