Ponds & Heron could possibly be the difference between at top 10 backcourt nationwide and tops in the B.E and a middle of the B.E. backcourt.
With I could see 24 regular season wins and possibly winning the BE tourny, without 20-21 regular season wins and possibly 2 wins in the tourny. When's the last time we won 27 games going into selection sunday, 01.
To me it's what the future/recruits see next year.

Ponds & Heron could possibly be the difference between at top 10 backcourt nationwide and tops in the B.E and a middle of the B.E. backcourt.

ESPN just released a revised version of its way too early top 25 to reflect the early draft entries/withdrawals. Nova dropped from #2 to #10 & Butler remained at #24. I wonder if Heron gets the waiver whether the next one they release might include SJU .

Let’s win first before we start talking about raises. Our staff is Extremely well compensated. We had a very good end of off season with Fig and Heron. A great recovery. Now it’s up to staff to get the kids to win next year. This could be a really good year for us potentially

Had previously commented that this recruiting class was solid, but more one that would be complimentary to a strong core, not one that could change the trajectory of a program on its own. At the time that was a potential shortcoming given uncertainty around core of next year's team.
With Ponds back and if Heron is eligible, in addition to Simon and Clark, that goes from a potential shortcoming to a prospective extreme strength. Adding Figueroa, Keita, Williams, Dixon as well as Trimble to that group is a legitimate rotation. Not a lot of size but a lot of athleticism and depth that will likely cause a lot of problems defensively. Other side of ball you go from possibly looking at Dixon to carry big part of scoring for stretches to being more of a bonus offensively. Williams being able to ease into a key role as opposed to being heavily relied on from the start.
Pretty incredible change in the landscape for next year in such a short period of time. Great job by the staff.

Another big advantage of Heron, as opposed to Dixon, is he is 6 5, strong and a good defender. . I’ve also mentioned Heron is a stud and is a better get than a grad big w the exception of the Stanford big. First we hear about Figueroa, then Ponds returning, then Heron. So far, this has been a nice May. Hopefully we can cap it off w Heron being eligible and a new AC.
For the past couple of years the SJU staff has been criticized for running a turnstile program, having eleven or so players leave, and relying too much on bringing in transfers to improve the program.
In hindsight it appears the staff has been right on in seeing how the college basketball landscape is changing regarding transfers. Players for many reasons are much more likely to transfer than just a few years ago. The recruit who remains four years at a school is becoming a rarity.
While some of the players who left SJU were fan favorites very few had big east talent and the staff has replaced them with more talented players.

This is one of the most intelligent posts I've seen on this board in a while. Glazier is the guy for anything related to NCAA compliance issues. Just ask UNC and Roy Williams, and a bevy of other big time schools.
It would make TOO much sense for SJU to do this though, and they likely don't want to pay for him. Something tells me this will be another one of their mom & pop operations. But for the love of God, I hope not, and hope Oliva has the guts to hire someone like that. Then again I can also see him keeping it in house. Who knows. And who knows what the budgeting is like.

how much could litigation costs be with hiring this high profile NCAA lawyer?
I'd have to think there's a limit to what school can realistically justify in spending to outsource, vs. attempt to keep in house as a university w/ law school and many law grads.
