Albany grad transfer Joe Cremo told ESPN that Chris Holtmann, Greg McDermott, Shaka Smart, Pat Chambers and Steve Wojciechowski will also be visiting him in Albany the next few days.

Is he even on SJUBB radar?

The closest anything associated with St. John's has been a fan to see him play, I trust Chris Mullin's Albany area recruiting maven, Dr. Fun, is on this case.

My apologies

George Washington sophomore guard Jair Bolden told ESPN he will transfer. Averaged 11.2 points, 3 boards and 3 assists this past season.

I realize this hasn't come to be (yet) and, Brellstorm, I realize you're just keeping us all informed, but it's cases like this that I don't get. Are we more interested in recruiting transfers from schools like Grand Canyon at the expense of recruiting talented metro-area HS kids who, theoretically, are supposed to be the backbone of our program?

I think this thread is just a generic list of transfers vs. the Guys on Matt's Radar thread which is more who folks think STJ is or should be targeting.

I thought I made that clear in my post. If not, my point was I'd like to see us be very, very, very selective in even considering transfers from lower-level programs who'd be taking 'ships away from metro-area kids (or maybe the occasional not metro-area 4 or 5 star kid). When he took the job, Mullin (and I'm not against him at all, just disappointed in some of his decisions) made it sound like recruiting locally was a priority, and yet we lost someone like Luther Mohammad because we signed a mid-major transfer and a lower-rated kid from Florida.

Obviously we are looking at transfesr since 4 and 5 star locals are apparently not intersted in us IF we hag a plethora of kids our strategy would be diff

Well, Ponds committed to us. And if we can put a winning team on the floor, maybe others would consider it as well. And that's not to write off 3-star locals -- guys like Khadeen Carrington and Desi Rodriguez did pretty well on the next level.

Hopefully we don't lose any more players but the staff has come up with an innovative way to identify those players looking to transfer. The men's basketball locker room now has two new signs. One sign points to the parking lot.
