St. John's will return a game at Long Beach State during the 17-18 season, source told @CBSSports. Part of home-and-home series. #SJUBB

Can't wait!

Home and home games are good and cannot but enhance our program - we had Duke, UCLA and I like the idea of varying the geography e.g. if Arizona State comes to fruition.
after all we were and can be a significant program which would equate to bouncing the ball beyond the tri-state area.

Thanks JSJ P Bobo et al.

Rothstein noted Iona & SJU will play informal games this summer.

Wonderful news as we are a very young and inexperienced team with a very inexperienced staff. Getting out and playing Hofstra and Iona will help us greatly down the road.

I think you are all forgetting battle for atlantis as possibly 3 games.

I think the schedule is almost set
18 Big East Games
LIU Brooklyn - Barclays
Nicholls St
Longwood
Binghamton
Delaware State
Bethune-Cook
@Tulane
@Minnesota
3 @ Battle for Atlantis

I believe that leaves us with 1 or 2 more to schedule that would probably be Fordham and Holiday Festival.

LIU-Brooklyn, Nicholls St., Longwood, Binghamton, Delaware St., Bethune-Cook, @ Tulane, @ Minnesota. SJU non-con hinges on Battle 4 Atlantis

Haven't seen it mentioned here but I read someplace else that the Longwood game has been cancelled.

I see no reason why we shouldn't at LEAST double our win total from this season. There are literally six new bodies on this team next year, and half of the new members are junior and senior aged guys. But most importantly, we will have an actual playmaking point guard in Lovett. The offense should be very exciting and much improved next year.

I say before ant predictions are made we should at least see them play a few games like 5

I think we should have an idea after the St Thomas Aquinas game, if they are allowed back in the building.

Fordham-St. John's will be Dec. 8
per Zach B
Payback time for last seasons loss.
Last year they had a much bigger and stronger freshman point guard than we did and Joseph Chartouny was a hand full for FeDerico. This season I see Lovett being much too quick for Joseph and having a huge impact upon the game. As I said payback will be sweet. :)

Reasonable target.

For my sanity I also hope;

* We have no surprise eligibility issues revealed ten minutes before Red/White game.

* The right guy, if any at all, transfers.

* Defense is a focal point of coaching attention in off season preparations.

* Staff puts the "NBA take first good shot" approach on ice & work on sharing the ball.

* Get Sima & Yakwe in one of those John Lucas like NBA camps that have success in skill development.

* Welcome LoVett but don't expect him to be dominating PG out of the box. First year guys playing that spot seldom do. (Yeah I know he has been practicing with the team)

Always nice Mr. P!
In the quiet of this Wednesday night August 20, 2016 anno Domini :) after a serious, actual red storm, tornado watch and all, this thought comes to me:
Ponds seems and is BIG TIME in spirit, attitude, talent. We are fortunate to have him. I see him with the impact of our great Malik Sealy - different players and positions of course - but similar impact: a very positive one.

Blessings in the night.

General we all love you and your optimism but the comparison to Malik Sealy is just a tad unfair to Ponds and we should not put unrealistic expectations on this young man. We are exceptionally fortunate to have him and I have no doubt he will be a great asset over the course of his career but your praise may be a little excessive. Shamorie did and will do great things over the course of his career but Malik was a top 15 high school all American. He was a MCAA and a member of one of the greatest high school classes ever , Alonzo Mourning, Billy Owens, Christian Laettnet and on and on.
Let's let Shamorie be Shamorie without expectations and I am sure we will all be pleased with the result.
Take care General and let us know how your recovery is going.

Start winning & respect will come. To dwell on any negative pre season opinions re SJU's coming season seems a waste of time IMO. We just have to earn it.

We already have our recruits locked in for next year anyway

The worse the predictions the better because if we have moderate success ( 15 wins ) then it's going to make Mullin look good and make it look like he exceeded their expectations
