2015 Bracketology

Well...let's just thank our lucky stars that we will make the tournament ..no telling what the ripple affects of that could have been:
1)Taffner Field House Collapses
2) The return of Jarvis
3) All the laptops on the campus implode spontaneously
4)Mankind as we know it reverts to primates
5)Monaash sports a Speedo at all home games to show off his tan.... :eek:hmy:

]No matter the seed or the opponent if this next game plays out like the last two it could have some ripple effects:
1. embarrassing end of srs. careers
2. Lavin's departure
3. OB and Jordan's departure
4. current verbal committed recruits renege
5. current possible recruits drop out
Could be a pretty important game. Let's hope for a better effort by all.

Look at the positive side, I think our 2-star recruits will stick with us.

Besides the obvious of having to play the number 1 if we win I seem to remember always having bad luck in 8-9 game. I think we were an 8 in Jackson's senior year when they made us play DePaul at DePaul. We lost in OT with help on a BS goaltending call.
Also lost 8-9 I think Shelton Jones senior year against Florida I think somewhere in Florida.

The year we list to DePaul in a nail biter in the NCAA was my first year as a fan. We beat the shockers in the first round. Mark Jackson's senior year.

The next year we lost to fla in the first round. I believe Duane Shintez (sp) fla's best player was suspended but fla still won

I believe Schintzius is the guy who was with Jayson Williams when Williams got mad at his dog and blew it away with a shotgun. Or something similarly crazy.

The Johnnies was a 6 seed the year we played DePaul (the Blue Demons was a 3 seed) at Rosemont Horizon. I remember that game fairly well, as I was watching it at one of my best friend's house.

The game when we lost to Florida the following year.... I can vividly recall Billy Packer saying (paraphrased), "If St. John's pressure Florida, they could wear 'em down." Florida had suspended a couple kids or so, and Vernon Maxwell was the only guard bringing the ball up. Full-court pressure defense wasn't in Louie's playbook, and he wasn't gonna adjust to doing it during the game, so that wasn't gonna happen.

I remember Maxwell burying a 3 at the top of the key for a Gators' win. I believe it was found out that Maxwell was high during that game, if I'm not mistaken.

Damn. Harvard wins on shot with 7 seconds left and yale follows with a miss

I'm probably the only person hoping that we're in the 8/9 game with a shot at Kentucky in the round of 32.

Want to be relevant again and get St. John's back on the map? Go beat Kentucky. Do I think it's likely to happen? No. But it's an opportunity for the biggest signature win for this program in at least 30 years. No guts no glory.

Easy for you to say. But do you want to moderate this forum after an 88-50 final?

I'm with you. And I think Dee mentioned before he wants it. So now it's three. Not sure you feel about Dee and I, though. Pretty motley crew.

Please include me in the group , if you are going to make a splash beat the best. A win against undefeated Kentucky would be incredible for the program publicity wise. I can't think of anything possibly bigger. A loss , even a blowout would be expected.

@JonRothstein: We've got a bid stealer --- Wyoming beats San Diego State to win the MWC and punch an automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament. This is March.

this buffalo game is real good right now too. up by 1 with less than 4 minutes left 1st half

Wyoming stole a bid. Now if UConn steals another one tomorrow against SMU, I hope the committee doesn't decide to just give The Big East 5 bids instead of 6. I don't think that they would but this could open the door.

better hope not because with Xavier's performance in the BET we're the 6th team
