2012/13 roster

He needs speed and that can be enhanced.

I agree. But I'm not a personal trainer, so while I have no doubt that running in the sand with a weight belt/ankle weights and a parachute, or running full speed in waist-deep water, would enhance speed, I'm still not sure how much gain he'd achieve.

And after all that, I'm still not sure the speed he'd gain would help overcome his height in the eyes of the NBA.

On the college level, though, he is an absolute stud.

Years ago kids on my son's HS basketball team discovered platform sneakers. Amazing. A few weeks later it was almost weird to watch 6 foot wite kids dunking. Not saying that's what Dlo needs but you can develope speed and quickness with work. Maybe a pound or two off would help too. If he could show some point aptitude (he is a great passer) it would help as well.

Who is the nice looking kid in the Garden?....StJ ?. It's a great avitar (?) if that's the word. To me it's a great identifier
of the kind of person you are. NIce!

Referring to my avatar? That is my 3 year old son Avery's first SJU game. Unfortunately if was unable to make it because I was working, but my wife and father got great pics and I have some video clips of him yelling "Go St. John's".

Hooper is red shirting and Woods is out.

They mean Darrick wood. It was him against jones i guess

With Wood we get to 13 scholarships filled. We don't know what Coach has heard from the Cincinnati Reds, or NBA recruiters regarding Jakarr or a dozen other issues. We think in the moment and Coach and his staff are on the basketball equivalent of a military campaign. Vibe is that we have the right guy in command.

Whitey Ford whom I loved and idolized as a young kid when he became an announcer used to call Met pitcher Tom Seavers and Yank SS Gene Michaels and they were current players. Darrick Wood hasn't even played for us or any college ball yet. Maybe people have Tiger Woods on their minds.

#STJbb Youth Movement continues as 2012-13 roster will have 11 underclassmen on scholarship. Likely youngest team in the country next season

This answers the Wood and Hooper questions.
Gift and Sanchez are the only uperclassmen.

Good find, Tom. Wood is very important to this team next year IMO...glad to see he is expected to be ready to go. He's not going to be a prolific scorer like Harrison--few freshman ever come in as ready to score as Harrison--but he could be our second best pure scorer and can shoot! It is criminal he is not a top 50 recruit.

Yeah, only way that would change is if Hooper was not on scholarship, but I think Lavin said he'd be on scholarship.

Wasn't there a possibility that Wood would,I stutter, be prepping and Wood would, be eligible for a scholi next year ?

Exactly, I don't think Hooper is paying his own way. That would be great if true, but I think Moose has it correct. I would not expect Wood to be here.
