#20 Marquette, Sat., Mar. 8, 12 Noon, FOX

I love this team and their grit, heart, toughness and want to.

I love this coach, and his ability to instill this in them, inspire and coax the performance out of them, and his ability to keep them on an even keel.

This has been the most enjoyable season since 1999. What an easy group to love and root for.

This game symbolized all the things that have made this season incredible - zero quit, dogged work on the offensive glass, opportunistic hands on defense, and players stepping up when it was needed. Lefty with some good minutes off the bench. Wilcher with arguably his best game this season, Ejiofor with a clinic on rebounding and coolness with the clock running down at the end. Richmond with his all around excellence. And, last but not least, Luis with ice water in his veins and a never say die attitude today.

We are.......St. John's!!!!!!

Quite simply this team maybe doesn’t have lure but has more heart than since I’ve followed them. They don’t suit they might be the cardiac kids but they are the biggest heart kids. Anyone who had little kids thus us what makes them St Johns fans for life

For us older Johnnies fans, Zuby is our Willis Reed. The Captain The Heart The Soul of our Beloved Team. I had the pleasure of meeting Zuby and he was wonderful and humble AND he seemed to understand the significance when I told him that he was like Willis. And Btw, The Captain was a Special Assistant for us under Coach Looie. Big things ahead for Captain Zuby.

Will be interesting to see how Shaka approaches next year. They are losing a lot to graduation and really don’t have a strong bench. Does he stick to recruiting HS kids or tries to replace via transfer portal?

What a win! Unbelievable season. That last play sums it all up. Great poke by Richmond, great job by Sim Wilcher to grab the ball & have the awareness to get it to the open guy & way for Zuby to be ready and have the soft touch when there isn’t time to go up strong. Everyone doing their part. This team seems to play its best ball when the game is on the line. Special.

Great to see Wilcher have a strong game. Sure had a couple bad moments but played though them. I’m a big fan of that guy so good to see him play such a big part in such a big win.

I will say that while this team is always fast and athletic, when Smith is out it’s noticeable that they don’t have that extra burst he provides. When he’s been healthy lately it always feels like there’s a few minutes somewhere midway through the second half where he comes in and just runs the other team ragged and they can’t keep up. It’s helpful that when other teams are tired we have this guy who is a lighting bolt with the basketball and knows how to go get a bucket. Hopefully he’s good to go for any and all postseason tournaments.

I can't think of Rick visiting Marquette and not remember the three epic daggers that put the Golden Eagles away in the final seconds in 2003, 2005 and 2007. Every two years one of Pitino's boys had a heartbreaker for them on their home floor. He's no stranger to getting it done up there.

As soon as I saw this great post earlier this week I thought, this one will be won on a buzzer beater. Now I won’t say I was 100% it would be us winning at the buzzer but certainly glad that was the case!
