@#19 Connecticut, Fri., Feb. 7, 8p, FOX

When we were hit with their haymaker, RJ just stayed solid and kept us close. That 4 point play by Devon was huge as well. Rick’s adjustments are the reason he is a HOF coach.

Kadary is deadly driving downhill or pulling from 15. This is a special team. No one in the country will want to play us. The will to win is remarkable. We still have room to improve but omg we are winning!

shoutout to Smith. 4 point play in the first half calmed us down. He also made a couple insane passes to get us some dunks too. He was a big piece of us clawing back into the game. Even with him continuing to struggled offensively, gritty game from him tonight

RJ makes me want to d*e sometimes when he’s dribbling out of control late in games. But goddamn did he step up tonight. He was engaged from the opening tip and hit clutch shots, insanely clutch shots

UConn played Kadary really tough tonight, but as superstars often do, he found a way to deliver when the game was hanging in the balance. He had a stretch in the second half where he got multiple buckets on offense, and then also poked the ball away on consecutive UConn possessions. That’s the stretch where we grabbed the lead and we never gave it up after

Sim is… sim. He hit a couple massive threes tonight. He had a jaw dropping baseline drive in the first half. He plays great defense. I guess I just have to accept there will be 4-5 plays every game where he makes me scream “WTF are you doing?!” At the television.

When was the last time SJU beat two ranked teams in the same week outside of a tournament setting?
The answer to this belongs in the Ripleys Believe it or Not category.
2006 under Norm
Tue 1/17 #17 Louisville @MSG (ironically v Pitino)
Sat 1/21 #9 Pittsburgh @MSG

In 2018 under Mullin we won consecutive games against ranked Duke and Villanova, but technically not the same week.
Sat 2/3 #4 Duke @MSG
Wed 2/7 #1 at Villanova

That's our Sim.

I said it earlier in the thread...Sim is basically last year's version of RJ. You're just praying the good play to "WTF are you doing?" ratio is in your favor every game. Hopefully next year he takes the same leap RJ has taken this year.
