I remember being at this game. Was a great game!

After this game on the handshake line, one of our managers mentioned how tall Calhoun was to me , said he’s a monster. Calhoun comes down and grabs our manager by the collar and say “what did you call me?” I grab Calhoun by the arm and told him to relax that he didn’t say anything bad about you! Off he went stomping off!

Clearly a sore loser, sober or not 😀

I’ll be the first to admit I believed the win against Marquette was a must win for credulity but in reality, are we expecting too much when we believe this team can go into UConn and beat a UConn team that seems to be playing well now, especially after their easy away win at Marquette?

Heck I would love to see it but is it realistic to expect it? I mean you can hope it happens, pray about it and even want to give up your first born child to get it but are we being overly greedy to EXPECT IT? 🤪
I expect to win every game from here on our, and I'm posting it with a straight face.

Didn't I say I'm really really greedy?

I want it all.

You are correct. Gampel Pavilion opened in January 24, 1990. I only recall that date because their opponent was St. John’s. UConn pulled away late in the second half and went on to win their first 13 games at Gampel.

The next season on Jan 13, 1991 we beat them soundly led by junior Malik Sealy. UConn’s first loss at Gampel. The game which was on national CBS was joined in progress because of coverage of the Gulf War.

Highlights posted on Memory Lane thread
Yep.... first basket ever at Gampel was made by Robert Werdann. In that opening night game, bench players John Gwynn and Dan Cyrulik lead the comeback in the 2nd half.

General Maherton rally yo the troops

We aren’t going to bumfuk Connecticut to lose. Losing is an impossibility. 5 3s hit your shots and end it nicely we absolutely aren’t losing not a possibility ( I’m actually humble ) but we are going to steal their soul . If you don’t believe this hate me forever I welcome it

This is like a coded CIA message left in a tree trunk. Have you crossed the equator yet or have malaria?😇

The closer we get to tipoff, the more I think we are going to win this game.

I have officially flipped. The Johnnies are going to win this one.

Here’s a take from a UConn perspective. Pretty complimentary about our Johnnies which I agree with but also agree we must be aware of the “kick out threes” which killed Marquette. Now they have Liam back as well as Ball and Karaban to shoot them.

It’s been let known that our passports expire soon. I think we are ok but are so close but I’m but pisco sours for every person in immigration tomorrow
