I’ll be the first to admit I believed the win against Marquette was a must win for credulity but in reality, are we expecting too much when we believe this team can go into UConn and beat a UConn team that seems to be playing well now, especially after their easy away win at Marquette?

Heck I would love to see it but is it realistic to expect it? I mean you can hope it happens, pray about it and even want to give up your first born child to get it but are we being overly greedy to EXPECT IT? 🤪

Ken - Correct me if I'm wrong but if memory is still intact, SJ was the first team to beat UConn at Gampel. I remember being at that game and it was very sweet.
You are correct. Gampel Pavilion opened in January 24, 1990. I only recall that date because their opponent was St. John’s. UConn pulled away late in the second half and went on to win their first 13 games at Gampel.

The next season on Jan 13, 1991 we beat them soundly led by junior Malik Sealy. UConn’s first loss at Gampel. The game which was on national CBS was joined in progress because of coverage of the Gulf War.

I was there for both. So was Kranmars I think. We had bus trips

This is a big game for Hurley. His massive ego (screamed to a ref: "Don’t turn your back on me. I'm the best f---ing coach in the country") won't tolerate Pitino beatimg him in his own house.

UCONN is a non-entity in NYC now. That little snot was an obscure guard who couldn't for Seton Hall who lived on his brother and father's coattails. He is a very good coach, but best in America? He was smart enough not to go the Lakers where Lebron could have him fired in an instant. His whiney screaming act would not play well in the NBA.

It will kill him if SJU comes into their house and beats him, if Pitino outcoaches him.

That in a nutshell is why I want us to badly beat them and their connsucking fans.
Wtf do refs put up with his crap. Just T him up.

If he keeps it up then just T him up again, and he'll be rejected
I wouldn't care if the league liked it or not.

A refs job is to call games, yes every coach complains but Danny abused refs.

If I was a ref I couldn't ref a game involving UConn, cause eventually I'd snap and yell right back at Hurley.

Just to add to the matchups that have already been discussed I think that Reed is going to be a huge factor in this game. He alone matches up very well with Zuby. I wouldn't be surprised to see Hurley challenging our frontcourt vulnerability by putting Reed out there with Johnson early forcing our hand to play Prey. If Prey can produce anywhere around 5 points/3 rebounds and his aggressive defense it'll free up Zuby to focus in on Johnson and hopefully keep him out of the foul trouble that we can't afford. If this can be pulled off for the 10-15 minutes that this can be a threat it'll be a huge relief.

Love RJ on Karaban and expect excellent coverage on Ball, he hasn't seen the level of size and aggressiveness like Kadary or Scott this BE season.

$2 beer night, Ben Gordon, Friday@8 and our ranking attached to it all, we're going to need to hit shots (3's included) on the road bc the environment will create some lopsided, easily shakable refereeing.

This is a “greed win” game. I like it, because as we all know…

I hope we can get their Bigs in foul trouble early. If we play like we did vs. Marquette we'll beat them easily (especially if our FT shooting is better).

I was just watching highlights of one of the first games I went to live, when we played UConn at the Garden in 2002, and won in OT. Calhoun got two technicals and was ejected in the first half. They didn't take crap from him so I don't know why they let Hurley get away with it.

I really expect Scott/Luis to be all over Karaban/McNeely defensively. Zuby handles Johnson/Reed. Key will be not letting Ball go off for 25-30 with his amazing 3 point shooting

I think we battle, but lose by four or five points Friday. Of course the goal is to win every remaining game, but just feel we’re due to drop one in a tough place to a rested UConn. Big picture view of “big boy games” is to hold serve at home v Creighton and UConn in addition to already concluded M’Q and end gauntlet at 3 & 2. I also think we have better chance of stealing a road game at M’Q, very susceptible to being physically outplayed, than UConn. So, 4 & 1 is certainly attainable, but just being realistic.

Beat UConn
