@#19 Connecticut, Fri., Feb. 7, 8p, FOX

I've felt from the start of the season that of our three main competitors, UCONN is our worst matchup. They can shoot really well from the field and the line, don't turn it over a lot and have quality depth (9 guys averaging 14 or more mpg). Yeah they're not great defensively; hopefully they send us to the line a lot and we make some of those free throws.
I expect we wind up splitting two with UCONN, hope we start with a win on the road on the way to proving me dead wrong.

When Deivon and Kadary are in the game together Kadary seems to defer to Deivon and let him bring the ball up. I think the team runs better with Kadary as the lead guard. Deivon prospers better in a 94 foot game.

Zuby is such a key asset I worry when he sits. Can his sub contain UCONN centers?

No one works harder to get free than Solo Ball. He must run 5 miles around screens. Will be a challenge to contain him.

Feel good about the other matchups.

I have been of the opinion that I don’t like KR and Smith in the game at the same time .
Kadary plays best with Wilcher , regardless of Sim’s struggles .

During Smith’s absence , he was missed but , KR exploded to another level .
Smith has a important role ,, giving KR a few minutes of bench rest . And , running the show when he’s in there but , when KR is on the floor he’s the man .

And , should be for the stretch run .

I understand this thinking re their shooters, but I think its based a little bit on past memories of teams lighting us up from three while our rotations were a step (or more) slow. I think it's fair to say those days are over.

They'll hit some threes, but Solo Ball is not going 7 for 9 Friday night. Not predicting a win Friday because Gampel is tough and they'll have McNeeley back, but with this group I'm not conceding anything. They're not going to run away from us.

Hopefully we see Pitino getting friendly with Jayden Ross before or after the game.

Would be a nice steal in the offseason.

I think it’s a 3-5 point advantage for UCONN due to home court advantage

Hurley’s whining and chatting like he’s inviting them to the Jersey shore this summer will tilt the calls a bit . That plus their annoying Student body and hard core fans counts too .

A Win for us here gets us into top 10 on Monday .
Meanwhile , while we focusing on us , Marquette and UCONN , Creighton is quietly moving up the BE ladder .

This is a big game for Hurley. His massive ego (screamed to a ref: "Don’t turn your back on me. I'm the best f---ing coach in the country") won't tolerate Pitino beatimg him in his own house.

UCONN is a non-entity in NYC now. That little snot was an obscure guard who couldn't for Seton Hall who lived on his brother and father's coattails. He is a very good coach, but best in America? He was smart enough not to go the Lakers where Lebron could have him fired in an instant. His whiney screaming act would not play well in the NBA.

It will kill him if SJU comes into their house and beats him, if Pitino outcoaches him.

That in a nutshell is why I want us to badly beat them and their connsucking fans.

We don't have much of a choice. Kadary has to play 30 and Smith/Wilcher have to give us at least 45 combined.

The general consensus has UConn winning this game. Hurley with a week to prepare. They are at home. Ben Gordon getting his jersey retired.

The assumption that this game is a L makes us very dangerous.
