#11 Marquette (MSG), Tue., Feb. 4, 6:30p, FS-1

We were 44 people away in attendance last night from being able to say we had more people than the Nets game last night.

And that's on a Tuesday night against a team in the midwest with almost zero alumni presence in NY....

We're back!
I'm actually impressed the Nets have that many people at their games lol

If you look at this game, you scratch your head. Our foul shooting was awful, our guard play other then Kadary and Smith in the last 5 minutes was non contributory, some decisions were poor yet we beat a top 15 team. A testament to the amazing defense, offensive boards and will to win. 😎👍
guard play non contributory except for the last 5 mins, look at KR's stat line throughout the game

My goodness what a wild ride this has been so far! We easily could have won by 15 if we made FT’s against a good Marq team. This team reminds me a bit of Hall last yr but obv better. Rarely pretty, grind out wins, tough D, win the rock fights.

We’re finally getting a nose for winning these big games. KR is coming on at the PERFECT time. Smith is still coming along but looked better by end of game. Relevance tastes DELICIOUS! Now we don’t have to be the fans of that team our uncles wax poetic about from the 80’s. We matter right now nationally in the very thick of it. The buzz is undeniable.

Beat UConn somehow and I may think this season is one big simulation! Please just take 1 from them!

Don’t come out of witness protection and put the horns on our season Zaun 🤫

Vince can be an elite center in the CAA, or a good one in the A-10, next year, if he chooses to go that path.

Considering how the Cliff spectacle played out, we still may have gotten our best value in getting Vince over him. I know that's insane, but he has been underwhelming at Alabama and it would've displaced Zuby from having his breakout year.

Prey's the guy we need playing Vince's minutes. Hopefully next year, Prey's playing 20mpg backing up the 4s and 5s.
Us not getting Cliff is the best thing that could have happened. Imagine if we paid $1m for him and not Kadary. Though with Pitino, who knows what he could have gotten from Cliff

We really are starting to look like Houston of the past few years. A next-level defense that teams have difficulty preparing for because you can't understand it until you see it.
I was thinking about this yesterday, we are not a team that should be worried about an early upset as a high seed if we get there. No mid major who hasn't seen this type of D will be able to handle it.

I've been sitting here watching win, after win, and yes more wins. All the while waiting for the proverbial bubble to burst, hammer to drop or monkey wrench in the works. The only thing I could latch on to as a probable cause for that has been Deivon's shoulder. I was SO very happy to see the Mormon finally return very late in this game to something that resembled his pre injury form.

My main concerns with this team are

1) running into a team that has size and can defend the paint; and
2) not being able to come up with enough offense.

Both of those are relevant vs UConn. Also both would be offset if someone (paging Aaron Scott and Simeon Wilcher) could provide consistent shooting from the outside. If we could get 24+ points including 4-5 threes from players not named Luis, Richmond, or Ejafor then we could potentially beat almost anyone.

At this point if that happens it is more likely to be an aberration than the rule - but an aberration at the right time would work!

Otherwise the fundamental key to this team is that even if our opponents shoot better than we do, we generate more opportunities by rebounding, getting turnovers, and playing defense. But it's too easy to fall off that balance beam of more opportunities/lower percentage vs fewer opportunities/higher percentage. It hasn't happened yet, but absent some shooting the margin for error remains thin.

The energy in the garden, what was on the line reminded me of MSG vs Duke or Uconn back in the lat 90's. It was on fire and tense as hell! We are lucky to have Coach and these players. It's a special bunch. The resolve is out of this world. I'm just catching up on all the messages here but few things from being at the game.

Prey over Vince, he gives us so much more defense and poise.
Was fine to keep Deivon in over Sim. they were going aggressive D the last few minutes and i personally trust Deivon more in those situations
I hope RJ, Kadary, and Zuby get some national love, they are so deserving of it.

Kam showed a bit of the damage he can inflict if he wasn't in foul trouble. glad he was kept in check.

This team is built for NYC, Gritty til the end!

I'm not trying to be a dick, but why do you call Deivon the Mormon? One season at Utah for a kid from Georgia. He spent two years at Ga Tech so why not call him the Bumblebee? Now if he went to BYU for a year that would be another story. ;)
