Awesome that Repole got to see the effect of his contributions live. The crowd gave me goosebumps at times. I would think that makes him spend more. This was all just an abstract concept last year, but now he sees what the dollars bring: top 15 ranking, almost 17,000 to a weekday game, 19,000+ to weekend games, community involvement, students going to games, etc.

Not only was the crowd as loud as I can ever remember, they were loud early, and they went absolutely nuts when we played our grittiest.

He was also at the Xavier game, and he said it brought him back memories of going to games in the 80s. I completely agree with you. The character of the building was different last night in general. It wasn't just the small community of STJ diehards/alum + students, it was also New York at large. X and Marq games both had people on my train going back to Brooklyn -- something rarely see otherwise.

You have to think the other people in the crowd making high six figures/low seven also want a piece of the action.

Speaking of the "D." Nearly two weeks ago, I told a childhood friend (who happens to be a Hoya fan) this Johnnies team has a "national championship level defense." He didn't particularly believe me until he saw the Johnnies wax the Hoyas like Mr. Clean last Tuesday.

If we can continue to knock down our average of six treys per game, then we could legitimately and seriously start thinking about playing games during the second weekend of the Dance.

IMO, we are already there; if I were associated with this team my “thoughts” would be aimed much higher than the second weekend.
I am far from predicting anything, one and done is obviously a crapshoot, and there are a lot of big games between now and then that will further clarify but I agree wholeheartedly with your opinion of the defense and we score enough and certainly have players not afraid of “the moment” so I would respect all but not go into any game thinking we didn’t have a legitimate chance.

Vince can be an elite center in the CAA, or a good one in the A-10, next year, if he chooses to go that path.

Considering how the Cliff spectacle played out, we still may have gotten our best value in getting Vince over him. I know that's insane, but he has been underwhelming at Alabama and it would've displaced Zuby from having his breakout year.

Prey's the guy we need playing Vince's minutes. Hopefully next year, Prey's playing 20mpg backing up the 4s and 5s.

That's where he should be. He can dominate 6'7 centers there with his size alone. He also doesn't need to be in a switching defense like this. He needs to be in the paint or near it at all times. I don't get why he is going out so far....you're 7'1 man. You can close out on a shot by just lifting your arm. You don't need to get chest to chest with wings like you are RJ.

My favorite moment was when the crowd got on Joplin after he missed those first two foul shots after being fouled on the three pointer (even though the whistle blew before he actually shot the three).

The reaction to the third miss was a nice bonus.

They need to watch videos of Drazen Petrovic shooting FT. It helped me actually hit some. He got low with his knees bent, took a breath and hit it.

We are too stiff and we think we are going to miss as well.

I’ve been wearing St John’s gear to my gym regularly this entire season and last. Only one other time, last year, did anyone say anything to me regarding the team. Today as I entered the gym one of the trainers yelled out, let’s go St John’s and another member said to me that was some game last night. I live on the Space Coast in an area called Viera where the only thing they know is U of F and Florida State.

A big win like last night’s gets people’s attention.

I agree with your comment but I have a question re: the financial relationship between St. John's and MSG. This question has probably been asked/answered many times but what is the revenue sharing agreement between St.John's and MSG? I assume the larger the crowd the better for us but how much better? I hate to deviate from the posts about our great win last night but I am curious. Thanks.

There's no reason why this team can't duplicate the 98-99 team that made the elite8, and we got one of the best bball coaches ever.

To me it's elite8 at minimum, but thinking thatwe'll do a hell of a lot more.

The end result could be really really special.
