#11 Marquette (MSG), Tue., Feb. 4, 6:30p, FS-1

While it’s premature to speculate or , tamper , just a thought or 2.

Woodson at IU might be in serious jeopardy at season end . Mgbako was one of RP’s first recruits and also Wilcher teammate at Roselle Catholic .
Just saying .

Of course , Boogie is coming off a broken leg at Arkansas but, our resurgence might be a catalyst to him coming back ?

It’s never too early to think about next season
Boogie surgery was on his hand and there is a good chance he will be in the NBA next year.

In first half M’Q was shooting 55% & 50% from three.

By end of game they shot 41% and 32% in total.

It shows a few things perhaps; SJ amped up effort in second half or our physical conditioning prevailed and tired a much deeper team. I find that incredible.
I agree with this but will add that the effort it takes for teams to get good looks and score in those first halves takes a toll as well. When we play our best teams just get ground down.

The folks who were down on KD earier in the season are fools. Coach kept saying wait until KD gets in shape to play not a Seton Hall game, but a Pitino coached game with 120% effort, for 40 minutes. Well it happened. KD fills the stat sheet, and those who criticized his defense, well, ..I will be charitable and just say they erred.
Per EvanMiya Kadary is the 11th best defensive player in the country

He has been alternating the two at center, with one appearing before the other in the first half and switching it up the next year. While Prey has shown great improvement and IMHO has a bright future, neither one will be a starter next year. The starter at the 4/5 next to Zuby next year is currently not on the roster.

The amount of minutes Zuby played against Marquette and lack both of these guys played tells you who he trust.
I agree that Prey won't start next year. I think he will be the first big man off the bench, though.
Pitino wants to get Zuby a block of rest in the first half near the under 12 media time out through the under 8 media time out. The problem is that Vince willingly chases everything too far outside and cannot recover or rotate, so it becomes a layup line. He also refuses to not play with his arms down, negating his size advantage over almost everyone in college basketball.

Marquette couldn't even get the ball into the paint before he came in and then it was back-to-back (-to back?) layups and he had a turnover mixed in on offense -- where he is generally at least competent. We were incredibly fortunate to stop that momentum when he was subbed out. I think we immediately went on a 5-0 run.

I get why Pitino added him. He's 7'1 and there seemed to be some upside working with a hall of fame coach. That upside has all but disappeared this late into his junior year. Pitino has to make sure nobody is a malcontent, and I'm sure he wants to show value to whoever paid the $300,000+ it takes to land a 7'1 rotational player.

Zuby's improvement isn't a good comparison for those making it. Zuby looked special at times last year. He was also a soph who barely played. Vince is at the end of his junior year and he played decent minutes at USC.

He's not missing shots or having bad luck. He's making the same mental errors every game and showing no signs of improvement there. It's not fair to his teammates.

Vince lacks good hoops instincts and rushes things as well. I do agree on Rick taking a flyer on him.

Vince can be an elite center in the CAA, or a good one in the A-10, next year, if he chooses to go that path.

Considering how the Cliff spectacle played out, we still may have gotten our best value in getting Vince over him. I know that's insane, but he has been underwhelming at Alabama and it would've displaced Zuby from having his breakout year.

Prey's the guy we need playing Vince's minutes. Hopefully next year, Prey's playing 20mpg backing up the 4s and 5s.

-- Smith looked like his old self with five minutes to go. That was fantastic to see because he's the fifth guy on the court we need for games like this. Sim may not like to hear that, but that's the reality and won't change for the rest of the year.
Thought this was huge. In the final minutes- you could see he was moving fluidly without hesitation.

Will be huge getting him back to 100%…adds such a different element in the open court

Prey must have torn his fingernail off because he was gushing blood after that goal tending call. But I love my team bloody!

BULLY BALL!!!!!

Highly recommend listening throughout the entire press conference.

Rick said Georgia was a scheduling error. Happy he said it because being there and watching it, that's really what it seemed like.
Funny, I said the same exact thing in a post Baha Mar wrap up (in which i implored people to climb off the ledge because this team was good enough to play with anybody in the country) and was told to stop making excuses. Sense perspectives have changed since then.😉

bring the D!!
That's probably a slogan at swinger parties.

Speaking of the "D." Nearly two weeks ago, I told a childhood friend (who happens to be a Hoya fan) this Johnnies team has a "national championship level defense." He didn't particularly believe me until he saw the Johnnies wax the Hoyas like Mr. Clean last Tuesday.

If we can continue to knock down our average of six treys per game, then we could legitimately and seriously start thinking about playing games during the second weekend of the Dance.

The crowd included Yankees manager Aaron Boone, former Giants receiver Victor Cruz, former Mets reliever John Franco, actor Steve Schirripa and billionaire booster and alum Mike Repole.

Same here. I honestly think, no knock-on others, but it was an example of "you had to be there." It was a scheduling mistake, and I would have said that if they had pulled out the win.

They would have been better off with a true road game a week later at Georgia, win or lose.

Awesome that Repole got to see the effect of his contributions live. The crowd gave me goosebumps at times. I would think that makes him spend more. This was all just an abstract concept last year, but now he sees what the dollars bring: top 15 ranking, almost 17,000 to a weekday game, 19,000+ to weekend games, community involvement, students going to games, etc.

Not only was the crowd as loud as I can ever remember, they were loud early, and they went absolutely nuts when we played our grittiest.
