#11 Marquette (MSG), Tue., Feb. 4, 6:30p, FS-1

What is the purpose of stating "a dog and a pigeon would be more viable"? The young man is a player on the St John's basketball team. I can understand you being frustrated, but to DEMEAN one of our players in a manner like this, #CLASSLESS. Comments like yours are one of the reasons I don't enjoy this site as much as I used to.
It’s a joke on Silly's use of "viable." These are professional athletes now -- who I support financially through NIL -- and they can take a joke here and there from fans about their play. I've never said anything personal about a player. He seems like a good kid. He's just not a Big East basketball player and I hope he finds a better situation for himself to end his career.

Pitino thinks he has talent, still new to the game, I'll trust Pitino. Look what he did with Zuby, no guarantees, but I like the odds.

From Coach Smart, who clearly understands the game:

“There’s so many different factors that go into winning, and there’s so many different factors that go into losing,” the Marquette coach said. “Shooting is one that people pay a lot of attention to, because it’s so obvious. But if there’s 50 of those factors and shooting is one of them, they’re really good at the other 49."
49 is a heck of a lot more than 2.

Thanks. Who knew Mike was such a fan of words never seen used before.

As an aside, that can also read as an “ar rant” which is something I used to do here with my original handle before maturing into kranmars.
I’m so inspired by my friends former screen name AR “

What do you expect him to say? He’s not a fan…he’s responsible for this kid for the next couple of months.

He’s going to have a long talk with him at the end of the season and will help him find an appropriate level and team.

There is a 0% chance he’s here next year.

Pitino can say whatever he wants, he turned to Prey at the 5 in the second half instead of Vince. That will continue. He’s been using Prey at the 4 for at least a month.
He has been alternating the two at center, with one appearing before the other in the first half and switching it up the next year. While Prey has shown great improvement and IMHO has a bright future, neither one will be a starter next year. The starter at the 4/5 next to Zuby next year is currently not on the roster.

The amount of minutes Zuby played against Marquette and lack both of these guys played tells you who he trust.

Some other things:
-- Twenty years ago, Kadary's a first round pick. I'm jealous we haven't had him the last couple of years, but seeing him kick it into this gear, in this system with this supporting cast, has been really fun to watch.
-- Despite some boneheaded plays on offense and defense, this could be the best Luis game. He played all 40 minutes, was the only starter in the entire game to not get a foul (despite the refs being truly horrendous on both sides of the ball). He showed high level NBA defensive potential against an athletic team for the first time. I know all the murmurs is he's gone, but him coming back makes us a top 5 preseason team.
-- Zuby is the quintessential, bring your lunch pail to work player. He's the guy that makes you love college hoops. Zach on spaces said the team's confident in retaining him. He's a massive mismatch for certain teams, and really equalizes whatever advantage team's think they are creating with switching on guards.
-- Smith looked like his old self with five minutes to go. That was fantastic to see because he's the fifth guy on the court we need for games like this. Sim may not like to hear that, but that's the reality and won't change for the rest of the year.
-- Scott was all over the place with fantastic energy and giving us second chances offensively.

Practice last night, then my sister’s birthday.
Just watched the game and I’m sure all the salient points have been posted, stats been noted. This team knows the most important factor in having a good team, play the next play as hard as you can, regardless of the outcome of the previous play.
To those who thought it was an ugly game, different strokes, my favorite type game, a man’s game, nothing given by either team, everything earned.
On to UConn……….bring the D!!

Highly recommend listening throughout the entire press conference.

Rick said Georgia was a scheduling error. Happy he said it because being there and watching it, that's really what it seemed like.

Also said Vince is a better player than he's shown but has to work on the mental side of the game. Makes sense but unfortunately for him, he's a junior.

Team also has a lot of improvement left -- which I agree with and is scary/exciting.
