I agree that Prey won't start next year. I think he will be the first big man off the bench, though.
Pitino wants to get Zuby a block of rest in the first half near the under 12 media time out through the under 8 media time out. The problem is that Vince willingly chases everything too far outside and cannot recover or rotate, so it becomes a layup line. He also refuses to not play with his arms down, negating his size advantage over almost everyone in college basketball.
Marquette couldn't even get the ball into the paint before he came in and then it was back-to-back (-to back?) layups and he had a turnover mixed in on offense -- where he is generally at least competent. We were incredibly fortunate to stop that momentum when he was subbed out. I think we immediately went on a 5-0 run.
I get why Pitino added him. He's 7'1 and there seemed to be some upside working with a hall of fame coach. That upside has all but disappeared this late into his junior year. Pitino has to make sure nobody is a malcontent, and I'm sure he wants to show value to whoever paid the $300,000+ it takes to land a 7'1 rotational player.
Zuby's improvement isn't a good comparison for those making it. Zuby looked special at times last year. He was also a soph who barely played. Vince is at the end of his junior year and he played decent minutes at USC.
He's not missing shots or having bad luck. He's making the same mental errors every game and showing no signs of improvement there. It's not fair to his teammates.
