#11 Marquette (MSG), Tue., Feb. 4, 6:30p, FS-1

I did predict a loss for the first Xavier game on the road but in terms of the Hoyas, I said it would be a tough game without Smith but thought we would win.

You’re a sly guy, I know what you are trying to do but when I predicted the loss on the road to Xavier, it was some time ago before the team was on any kind of run. My standards for this team have been upgraded.
And all the girlies say I’m pretty sly for a white guy

When we beat Marquette I'm supremely confident we win at Uconn.

1 week at a time. This is the week we go next level parabolic

If you think it enough it will happen
I am from the school of “one game at a time.” Play that game and move on to the next. Don’t worry about who is on the horizon, worry about the one who is right in front of you. That is how you avoid “trap games”

While not a player, as a fan, I will focus my energy on the next game, not who we play on Friday or the one after that or the one after that, whomever that is.

I could care less about the spread or Ken Pom or whatever metrics there are. Just take care of business and business will take care of itself.

Reading this Site, every game this year (or just about) has been a “must win game” which is beyond ludicrous (and I don’t mean the rapper). Tuesday night an important game? Sure as winning keeps you in sole possession of first place, gives you a two game lead and you hold serve with a win. But a must win? Does it knock us out of first place? Does it eliminate an opportunity to go the Dance? The answer to those two questions is no. It doesn’t even knock us out of the top 25, probably not even the top 20.

Enjoy the ride folks and stop dissecting and over analyzing everything.

Logic, sanity, reason, perspective--what a refreshing post! Thank you!

Usually I go right home after games but today my cousin and I stopped in TRACKS. It was packed with St. John's fans enjoying the win. Walking to TRACKS, there was a joy in the air that I haven't felt in a very long time. Strangers in RED acknowledging each other. No one gave a Flying F--K that we blew a lead, we were all happy to have won. Inside it was just one big celebration.

The ride home on the train was very pleasant. Yep Providence came back, but what I chose to watch was Kadary coming up CLUTCH at the end. At this point in my life, I don't have time to wallow in negativity. We showed that we are able to deal with adversity, have our backs against the wall, and win, This team is resilient and has heart. They are WINNERS.

Let's Go ST. JOHN'S!!!
Panther, you sure can turn a nice phrase--"Wallow in Negativity". I love it. Reminded of Spiro Agnew's "Nabobs of Negativity" line. We ought to run a contect--best negativity line goes on the Silly Donavan memorial tee shirt!.

Great post Dave , I feel the same way.
Unfortunately I could not watch or listen to the game and only started to scroll through all posts after sundown at 6:15 pm last night. I saw we won and I was delighted. I did see that we won by 2 points and I was not the least surprised. When you are number 1, which we currently are, and are ranked , which we currently are , you have a huge target on your back. For every team that is having a disappointing year we are their Super Bowl. I am sure that Niagra University Fans remember only too well some 40 years later , that they beat our great 1985 that had at least half a dozen players that played in the NBA.
Would I have liked Snith, Witcher and Scott to have shot the ball better , you bet. But we won at the Garden which was 97% full, and against an original BE member which is always a tough out.
Take the exciting win, hopefully learn from it and prepare for Marquette , not ConnU but Marquette.
Let’s go Redmen.

Joedib, we had a breakdownn,Just plain common sense.
recovered, and won the game. It's over and I know our staff will talk to them about it.

Sure Marquette is coming off of a loss. But we're also coming off a major 2nd half breakdown which hopefully is used as a teachable moment to get the guys refocused.
That was really out of character for these guys- up 19 under 9mins… Prov went wild from 3- credit to them…. Thought that Joseph heave was gonna drop given how the last 8 mins went…

Love when our staff can use “teachable” moments stemming from a win rather than Loss…

The term “must-win” here is akin to the definition of “vaccine” at CDC lol… it’s lost its meaning.

Believe the guys will be Ready for Tuesday… doesn’t mean that will anyway equate to a strong offensive showing lol- Prediction: Dog Fight.

Negativity? 😂I am the most positive poster here. I’m thrilled with the win and Kadary’s heroics, expect a better team close out from a game where they had a 19 point lead with 8 minutes to go (as does Coach Pitino) and calling something a must win cause I dream big for the program and want the country to be aware is about as positive as you can get. I guess if you are going to dishonor me with a memorial tee shirt, which is pretty dumb since I’m not dead yet (😂 very intelligent 😂) I suggest you add to that the Joedib “clueless” fan award for the misinterpretation of all my posts.

Silly, my man, when you're a bottom-5 poster on the site the old saw of "the first thing to do when you've dug yourself a hole is stop digging" applies.
