His blocks and his rebounding were off the charts too. I didn’t get to see the Nova game but this was his best game I’ve watched live.RJ had 17 points and 11 boards. He was running around on D and was diving for loose balls. He was a total menace. 0 fouls - nice game!
Hurley might spontaneously combust on Friday playing against our defense.Red Storm Nation, what a night! That 70-64 win over Marquette was one of the best victories I’ve seen since I started at St. John’s back in 1990. Madison Square Garden was electric, and this team showed the heart, toughness, and grit that defines St. John’s basketball!
Rick Pitino has completely transformed this program. The defense was suffocating, the rebounding was dominant (50-28 edge!), and Kadary Richmond played like an absolute superstar. RJ Luis Jr. and Zuby Ejiofor were relentless. This team has the swagger and fight we’ve been waiting for.
We are witnessing something special, folks. This win proves we belong among the Big East elite. And now, bring on UConn! If we play like we did tonight, we’re taking them down next. Let’s keep this momentum rolling—March Madness, here we come!

LMF will prosecute Shaka for this:
In the past yes in present day basketball no. They protect air born players especially when they get hit up high and especially when there is a bit more force than usual.Just got to the point in the game where they called the flagrant on smith. What an awful call. We can admit it after the win.
I hate that term “air born player”, you mean they were going for a layup? Better not make a play on the ball then!In the past yes in present day basketball no. They protect air born players especially when they get hit up high and especially when there is a bit more force than usual.
Ed Cooley said nice things about Pitino. I think only coaches can appreciate how tough coaching is, especially today with the NIL complication. Pitino is a grand old man of coaching, with a great deal of success. He can afford to be generous. Also, who knows, after RP retires, Sha might come to SJU. We could do worse; we have done worse. Sha is a good coach. He’s doing the opposite. He is trying to give positive press to a young coach he likes who is currently overseeing one of the biggest debacles in the BE history after saying at a press conference when he was hired that the job was “too important to mess up”.
They are selling $1 tix to their game tomorrow, lower bowl. You can sit near the court, center, for $8 with lounge access for free food and drink. Seriously.
That’s a program that never gets attention but it’s becoming so bad they are starting to get it for all the wrong reasons.
In his own Pitino way he is trying to help Sha out.
The coach is a master. I am in awe.his answer for the shooting was hilarious and his answer on the Richmond question was awesome. Great interview.
well saidExactly. This game was what it was always going to be. SJU defended and pounded it inside. Crushed Marquette on the boards and picked up fouls since Marquette doesn't have the physical size to defend the paint against us.
On the plus side SJU kept the turnover margin manageable and defended brilliantly.
Despite that it was still a close game, which tells you how small our margin of error is.
But survive and advance and let's see if we can give U Conn an equally tough game on Friday night.![]()
The folks who were down on KD earier in the season are fools. Coach kept saying wait until KD gets in shape to play not a Seton Hall game, but a Pitino coached game with 120% effort, for 40 minutes. Well it happened. KD fills the stat sheet, and those who criticized his defense, well, ..I will be charitable and just say they erred.Only player in D1 with 1500 points, 700 rebounds and 600 assists?
Kadary Richmond
Translation for “played with incredible violence.”
Great point, Panther. I agree.I don't think we ever had 3 players with double doubles before.
Well, Coach disagrees with this opinion, ....and I am going with Pitino's opinion. Check out the press conference.Just not viable? The offspring of a dog and a pigeon would be more viable.
He is truly awful. He has no clue out there and it makes no sense to play him when Prey won’t hurt us.
I’m to the point where why not just play Maker 2 minutes around the under 12 and let his instincts guide him?
