Great to see Mark Jackson back

Great to see Jayson sounding well and he really spoke well to how much Coach meant to him and how we all get and need 2nd and 3rd chances.  I also like his shot at a certain other former player.

It was sad though again how poor quality the stream was and also how few people watched it.  It peaked at just 56 people.

Agree on Jackson, and Williams was a great laugh and good speech. I did catch his comment about Mullin and his lack of coaching ability, like his running and jumping.

Barring a legit reason, real dissapointing but perhaps no longer surprising if Mullin just chose not to be there for inconvenience despite the significance of the event,  and with so many other former players there..

Happy to see that Looie is around to see the honor. Great to honor people after they are gone but even better when they are still with us. Coach C is a great man and it is awesome to see people show and have him experience the genuine affection and appreciation.

I didn’t see Chris Mullin.  Was he there?

Question: In the photo of Looie seated before former players (and others), was that John Warren sitting next to him? I ask because I remember reading here a few years back that John -- one of my all-time favorites -- was dealing with medical issues at the time.

First and foremost this is awesome and Coach's speech was just the best. He is about to turn 97 in January and is still so thoughtful and eloquent. The fact that he got to see this come to fruition, even if long overdue, is beautiful. And surrounded by so many great people, former players, or SJU or Big East luminaries. It was very nice of people like Val Ackerman and Mike Breen to show up...and Ron Artest came.

So what excuse does Chris Mullin have? I thought it was so classless and offensive and disrespectful for him to not be there. All Chris ever spoke about was how much Coach meant to him, how he was a second father etc etc etc. Not only was Mullin's coaching tenure here an absolute disaster that I wish we could erase from our history, but he's doing himself no favors in the years after. Yes we separate the player and the coach and the person, this was just a really bad look on the person.

That being said, well deserved coach. I can't wait to see it in person!

Coach Looie 'C" is our little gem. What spirit and humility, loved by one and all.

I wonder was Bruce Beck there? I know Bruce did a wonderful piece on how the Coach was holding up during covid, very nice classy piece on WNBC-4 Sports.

A true Legend. I met him one time in person, on an elevator in the Garden, by the time I exited, he had asked about my wife and children and really meant it. I was so awe struck that I walked on cloud 9 the rest of the time. And the Johnnies (Marcus) beat Duke.

To look back on 20+ win seasons and a trip to the Big Dance (or at a minimum the NIT) to be routine is a marvel.

Be well Coach!
