“Looie” Statue

That funny. You were the one who suggested that I should be an "active alum" and reach out to Goff. I couldn't care less what the school does with the statue. I was offering to give back via a substantial reduction in cost since I know what the school was planning on paying. I'm incredulous that the school or those involved wouldn't even return a call or email from a Queens based alumni that was actually in this business. Even if its just for advice. Just so you know, there are works on the campus, St. Vincent and St. John, that I actually produced. I'm wasn't fishing for business. I was looking to help the school out.
I'm curious who told you to make a significant donation to get your foot in the door, especially since no one returned your calls.

I would agree and accept that at times some administrators at SJU just do not get back to you when you call, and that can be frustrating.   I've experienced it, and I think that is one area that the culture of the university has to improve.

Pretty sure that in the Goff administration there was no commitment to purchase the already completed statue.   Guessing that although it was in poor taste not to returns your calls, there was nothing to talk about since the money wasn't available to purchase the statue anyway.

I don't think you understand the optics of offering to "give" the university something at a reduced price.    You are positioning it like it is a donation, but at the same time you are offering to charge for your services, albeit it at a reduced price.    I believe that it was posted here that the statue purchased cost in the range of 150K, and I believe you had told me you could do it for less.  Still if you offered to create a statue for $100K, I don't think I would think of it as you doing the university a favor.    If you already did work for the university multiple times, why didn't you leverage those business relationships, or at least used them as a reference.

Goff was here only for a very short time, and he proved to be a bad hire.   I would say however that he was very approachable, but also that he was overwhelmed.   A project I wanted the AD to initiate and offered to help with during his tenure was not the highest priority, but did get done when we hired a new AD.

I would say if you want to work on future projects that leverage your talents you should reach out to MC, and if you are looking to make a contribution, reach out to Paul Sclafani or Nick Vendikos.    Good luck.

Maybe they will finally put Mark Jackson in the St John’s Hall of Fame           If Mark isn’t in the HOF , it is a wrong that needs to be righted ..

I watched the live stream.

What a great man, speech and event.

Coach C.'s speech sums up life well....Above all else, people & relationships matter.
