There is one already made sitting in storage. I met the sculptor at Mohegan sun when we played South Carolina. He told me it was ready, just waiting for SJU to pay.
Then what the hell is the school waiting for? The man is 96!

Ya think maybe the administration could reach out to alums? Most people have no idea the statue exists.

Would rather not reveal the reasons but suffice to say new leadership moved swiftly both with the statue, placement if it, and acceding to one of louie's conditions that speak to coach c's character. You will all be thrilled when all of the plans are announced and there is still a big need to provide financial support.
You've posted that before on here. I'm not sure who you dealt with, but something about your version doesn't add up. From the moment I made small donations to Red White, I was treated with respect and friendship. I was never asked to make a donation of any size, and honestly don't know anyone who has been asked the same. I also didn't ask for anything in return. I am pretty sure that the artist who was commissioned to do the Lapchick statue, went ahead and made a Lou Carnesecca statue at his own risk and then offered it to the school. The school did not commit to purchasing it for years, and I believe you jumped in after the statue was completed.. I suspect had you done the same as the Lapchick sculptor, who clearly had an inside track after completing one project successfully, perhaps you would have had a better chance.MSP710 post=435372 said:I'm actually in this business. I offered to do one for the school at a reduced rate. Less than what they are going to pay for the one done on spec. I went to the school and operate a business here in Queens that makes statuary. I was told to make a "significant" donation to the school to get my foot in the door. I guess having alumni make something for the school at a reduced rate, made in Queens not China on spec, wasn't enough to get me through the door. Can't say I'm surprised. Typical St. John's.
