(BET) Marquette, Thur., MAR. 9, 12 Noon, FS-1

This coach, and his staff and the kids have known this was coming since mid-February, if you believe the tweet from Albano today, that Anderson was told then he would not be retained. That's why I've been saying that Anderson looked like he didn't want to be on the court coaching, and why you'll see the emotion from the kids.

There's plenty of blame to go around for the subpar season and I think both the coach and players share responsibility.
The year began with this coach starting Posh Alexander, who is little threat to score at the 2 guard position, and Curbelo in the same backcourt.
After a long summer playing together one would think Anderson would have known better but he clearly did not.
As for Soriano, CMA made him the centerpiece of the offense. In his mind, CMA figured we don't need Posh to score. All he wanted was for the guards to force the ball into Soriano who, in turn, felt compelled to take the shot.
As much as we love Joel, he is a weak one on one player because he is slow to react and today was a perfect example. Even with 3 MQ players collapsing around him, he was reluctant to quickly pass the ball to an open man.

As for Posh, he plays hard every game. However, he took a few steps backwards in his overall game and we can't blame Andre Curbelo for that. Today was a perfect example in that he made little attempt to pass quickly to an open man. An interesting statistic today was the assist difference between the teams. Our THREE point players (King, Posh and Wusu) had a grand total of TWO ASSISTS. Marquette had 18 assists to our 9 for the game. THAT, is reflection of the mindset of the coaching strategy.

I agree with some here that this team, with these players, had enough talent to compete but were just undercoached because none of the bad habits were corrected as the season progressed.

As for the Joel Soriano statement, it will have zero effect on the decision to retain CMA. At a higher profile power conference he may not even be the starting center. He may have already decided to play overseas. An NBA player he is not.

Finally, I think the decision to retain CMA may come down to vetting the handful of candidates who have a sincere interest in the job. That may be taking place already and if the interest is not mutual it may not make financial sense to hire another 3rd choice. I don't think we have the heavily invested donor support to go after $5 million dollar coaches.

So the coach is responsible for the low basketball IQ of his players? Could it be that their low basketball IQ coupled with hero ballitis is the reason they can't/won't follow coaches instructions? Maybe we see the same over and over again because rthey are low IQ performers. I guess all teachers and all bosses are responsible for the poor performance of low IQ students and workers.
Wait. Your post is confusing. In other posts you say that both the coaches and the players share equally in their performance. Now you’re saying the coaches bear no responsibility at all. Make up your mind. Which is it?
Also, your unwavering support of Anderson is commendable. Completely misguided, but commendable.

Mike gets an A for his players playing hard. But gets a F for his players playing low IQ bb. This should be addressed during their daily practices. Yet we see the same over and over again.
Couldn’t have said that better totally agree his kids are always in top notch shape also there isn’t any short effort on the kids part most of the time

To me the epitome of the Anderson coaching era was at the end of second half when Posh intercepted the pass and instead of Anderson calling a timeout with 12 seconds left, Jones turns it over
Or he drives to the foul line

If you own a company and you hire 10 employees and your results suck is it your employees fault or you who hired them

Soriano was not a weak one-on-one player. He was weak when surrounded.

How could Soriano sign elsewhere? The pen would slip through his fingers like the basketball did about 15-20 times today. Easy baskets become contested(or layup misses) when you don't catch the ball cleanly. Several rebounds went right through his hands and how many times did he lose it on the double team? Disgusting, wonder if he could even do a fingertip push-up? Shouldn't be a problem at this level for someone his size.

I didn't sat anything of the kind. I still put blame on both coaches and players for our miserable season. My response was to a post that blamed the coach for the low basketball IQ of the players without considering that their low basketball IQ may have caused them to not properly respond to coaches direction.

Our kids played hard all season
They were easy to root for (even though I drank gallons of Maalox during several games)
We won a game in the BE tourney and played the #1 seed down to the wire
As much as I would like to see a coaching change, I wouldn't be surprised if CMA comes back

Don't see you playing up Storr's play today-1. for 11 from the field. Second worst on the team today. Only Jones was worse. When you play up a player's accomplishments, you should also acknowledge their deficiencies. Everyone has their ups and downs.
I never did play up his play today. He had a bad day but overall he had a very good frosh season as evidenced by him making the Big East All Frosh Team.
