(BET) Marquette, Thur., MAR. 9, 12 Noon, FS-1

I believe fully that a team plays as they practice. Jay Wright was known for meticulously run practices which were very detail oriented. There is no way that an emphasis was put on discipline and valuing the ball in the way practices were run. The team played the philosophy the coach believes in. Create havoc which, in theory, would be the equalizer the blunt instruments he recruits play with the better shooters and passers of the opponents. I never heard anything in the numerous covered huddles focusing on shot selection or being careful with the ball. This stuff wouldn't fly elsewhere.

To me the epitome of the Anderson coaching era was at the end of second half when Posh intercepted the pass and instead of Anderson calling a timeout with 12 seconds left, Jones turns it over
I don’t think he had any time outs left at that point (you receive an additional one in OT). However everything was in front of your bench. He could have called a play, there was enough time.

Kids gave it their all. Played for a clueless coach. We ran that same "play" the last 6 possessions.... Wusu with ball off a high Soriano screen. We had no halfcourt offense all year. Kolek can only go left. Went that way the whole game. A good coach recognizes this and has his defense push him to his right..... not our coach. Continued to allow him left off of every screen and drive. Foul shooting killed us all year. Probably lost 5-6 games because of poor foul shooting or critical misses down the stretch.

Now the real next season begins. I expect most of the eligible kids to enter the portal and try and salvage the rest of their college careers. Better act fast on the coaching decision or else it will be ugly.
And you know what the real sad part is? That set with wusu/Soriano was perhaps the most successful thing we were doing all night.

So why wasn’t this an issue the first two years with different, probably less skilled players?

Unfortunately, St. John’s can not really turn down talented players even if the player really doesn’t fit the coaches system. Blue bloods are able to recruit over players that we would love to have and usually have deep rosters of talented players.

I guess CMA could have tried slowing the pace a bit but we aren’t known for great half court sets.

You tried making this point already multiple times in different threads and failed. Who recruited these, as you call them, low IQ players? Are you insinuating the coach is telling them to play one way and they simply are not listening? These are kids out there playing. It's all the coaches fault. Accept it.
HOGWASH

Even if the coach is telling them to play one way and they are not, that is still the coach's fault.

So the coach is responsible for the low basketball IQ of his players? Could it be that their low basketball IQ coupled with hero ballitis is the reason they can't/won't follow coaches instructions? Maybe we see the same over and over again because rthey are low IQ performers. I guess all teachers and all bosses are responsible for the poor performance of low IQ students and workers.
I think it’s a combination of the two but Anderson certainly deserves some of the blame

Dumb post. Kid loves his coach and played his ass off this year.
He’s no Jimmy Chitwood. While I realize it’s an emotional time for the young man, it’s “dumb” to think that he would have an impact in a coaching decision that would affect a program long after he’s gone.

In terms of a dumb post Boo, can we hear more from you why Storr shouldn’t be getting much time? 😂😂😂😂😂

Not sure what Storr has to do with Soriano’s tweet or the intelligence of your post. When Roberts was about to be fired, the kids rallied around him and threatened to boycott. I respect that kind of loyalty, particularly in today’s college basketball landscape.

As you correctly pointed out, it’s an emotional time for Soriano and he clearly loves his coach. Kid gave it his all this year and you write good riddance. I think that’s pretty lame.

We had one timeout left.

Don't see you playing up Storr's play today-1. for 11 from the field. Second worst on the team today. Only Jones was worse. When you play up a player's accomplishments, you should also acknowledge their deficiencies. Everyone has their ups and downs.

Yeah you can hate on Anderson all you want but don’t take it out on Soriano kid played his heart out for us this year! Can’t fault him for showing his coach some love especially minutes after their season ended. If we bring in a big time coach he will reconsider.

And I think that's the biggest takeaway. We weren't even aware Soriano was considering coming back. To know it is even on his mind is good news as the next coach could potentially persuade him. Would be a huge building block. Remember when CMA was able to retain Heron and Figueroa?

A low IQ poster(not you, obviously) chastising "low IQ" players. Hilarious!
