Sorianos 18 rebounds doesn’t scream out for record book attention but I don’t know if SJU has 25 other players who have accomplished that in their over one hundred years history.
Remember Shelton Jones and Jayson Williams had close to 20 and think Zendon had close as well
Before my time I bet George Johnson and Billy Paultz

Mel Davis in his two years averaged 16.4 rebounds while Ed Searcy averaged over 11 in his three years. Different eras obviously; the country was led in those years by Artis Gilmore with over 20/game. Back in the 50s through the early 70s it was in the low to mid 20s. Lots of missed shots back in the day I guess.

And Leroy Ellis averaged 16.5 as a senior, so he probably hit 20 or more a few times ... including a school-record 30-rebound game.

He is fine. He is not forcing or trying to do what he is not able to
Exactly. One Posh absolutely should take at least some open 3s when he has them. If he thinks he’s off he just won’t take as many. And if he makes some at even a clip slightly better than freshman year he’s impossible to deal with for the other team. No doubt he has the green light, as he should. And last year he was pretty darn good in that midrange game. Posh is always my least concern every game we play.

Posh is my favorite Johnnie since maybe Harrison. I don’t think there’s a coach in the country who wouldn’t want a player like Posh. He has faults but far outweighed by his value. If he ever manages to shoot better and cuts down on the turnovers a little then he’d be in All American discussions.

That was then….

This is now.

The 2017-2018 team from that first clip. It's hard to understand how they ended up starting the Big East schedule with 11 straight losses. Their was some serious talent on that roster. Didn't help that Lovett bailed on the team.

Very easy they had a coach with no experience. CMA would have gotten those kids to produce.

At the game I'm wondering how the big center with glasses, Breidenbach, is a Big 10 player. He was flat footed, slow and with no touch. His stat line from yesterday reflects that. Today I look up and see he was a 4-star top-100 recruit, also recruited by USC and Cal. It goes to show how largely irrelevant these ranking systems are.
Have to completely disagree with that last statement. If you look at the teams that are perennial top ten teams, they are filled with 4 and 5 star kids. While there is always the exception, as the Nebraska center, the majority of the time, the better players are higher ranked out of HS.

Talent is talent. And if you think about it, and I know don’t, but Covid largely affected this program. It was much more rigorous than that of the other counterparts.

You might see teams that broke thru or whatever, but this was the first offseason that CMA has truly been able to build.

That’s what Cragg sees, and everybody else. The storm is coming this year. Period.

Get on or get lost.

I don’t recall very many Johnnie players who went after Rebounds and the Ball as vigorously as Anthony Glover . He was relentless and at about 6’5” was undersized but , that didn’t stop him . Neither could other teams .
1. Billy Singleton
2. Anthony Glover
3. Wusu
Players who have had their shots viciously thrown back at them the most in my lifetime
One game Mourning and Mutombo blocked like 42 shots vs us. Half were on Singleton.
