I think I was confusing him with Bieber on the Jays.Didn't he just pitch a good game for them like 10 days ago?
McLean is intense with incredible movement on his pitches. Tong looks like he will take more time to develop but I agree the moment didn't look to big for him.I have no time to watch minor leagues other than 15 minutes at a time so I'm not going to pretend to know anything about Tong in depth
Just from a guy who watches pitching closely I'm not going to rave about him like Mclean but the best way I can describe his pitching if it makes sense to anyone else but me is tight in a good sense
FWIW twice the Mets batted for over 20 minutes scoring many runs. I wonder if all that waiting and standing around didn’t affect Tong a bit. Tough to get a rhythm.I have no time to watch minor leagues other than 15 minutes at a time so I'm not going to pretend to know anything about Tong in depth

McLeans breaking stuff in unreal.I have no time to watch minor leagues other than 15 minutes at a time so I'm not going to pretend to know anything about Tong in depth

I think you see a little more polish with McLean. He was a college player even though he was only a “part time” pitcher. Tong is a couple years younger and doesn’t have the college experience. , Both have good stuff but are very different styles. It will be fun to watch them grow together.McLeans breaking stuff in unreal.
Tong led the minors in K. He has a major league fastball (with some movement) and a couple of good secondaries pitches that get a lot of whiffs.
Looking forward to Scott returning next year. He was impressive during his stint before TJ surgery.I think you see a little more polish with McLean. Now to get Sproat and Scott headed back in the right direction or healthy in Scott’s case would be a big boost moving forward. That’s the Hopium.

Young, talented, and inexpensive pitching is very exciting.
With inevitable injuries and Scott having to recover, I do think Sproat will debut next year at minimum one way or another. I’m curious who our next Canning will be. He loves having 8-10 capable starters.Sproat is going to find himself in a very unenviable position next year if he doesn’t make some changes.
McLean, Scott, and Tong all ahead of him and some very couple of capable guys in AA and A+ that could catch up and pass him….plus some lottery ticket arms at the lower levels.
