We almost did. There was no reason not to bring Leiter back out for the seventh.

Doval has not impressed, but they seem to have solidified things, somewhat, with Weaver and Bednar as the late game combination.

With this sweep, and help all around today (pending the Mariners-Mets game tonight), the Yankees are now just a half-game behind Boston for second wild card (even in the loss column), and one game behind Seattle for first wild card (they'll be a half-game swing tonight).

Also Cleveland got swept, so the Yankees are now 3 and a half up for the final wild card spot (3 game loss column difference).

So, while they can't afford to rest on things (well, they can tomorrow, because there's no game), they have opened up a little bit of room in terms of a playoff spot.

Please tell Warren to stop throwing 0-2 hanging pitches. He's a power pitcher. Throw that 0-2 pitch into the dirt.

Add Doval to the list of Yankees pitchers that cause a lot of angst every time he enters the game.

Now come the games against the East where the Yankees have really struggled.
