A very good coach yes and not sure that it is based upon her being an outstanding recruiter. Have had this discussion over time with one of our very knowledgeable posters who has the same opinion. Would not shock me I’d the Knicks hired her as the firing of Thibs was shocking to me.
 
My main concern isn't whether fans can get behind a woman as coach, it's whether Knicks have the players who would. I would hope management would know their own personnel well enough to know if this is the case before pulling the trigger.

If that's not the case but you still want to rattle the establishment, I suppose you'd see if Geno were interested for a few years.

IMO the recruiting is a feature of her people/player management skills which are exceptional. A real key to success in this era.

She also knows the game and is smart and mature enough to put capable people on her staff.

Still a huge risk and would not make me any less grumpy about the Thibs firing. But I would have no trouble rooting for Staley

In any business getting rid of a high performing employee ( I'm not saying I was against it ) but your #1 target is under contract at a competitor while firing the high performing employee nonetheless is the definition of f'ing insanity and stupidity
