I'll stand by my take. I think Ashworth is asked to do too much by Creighton and isn't a great lead guard. He put in a valiant effort yesterday and definitely expected him to hit one of those shots. But he didn't, and he missed free throws. Why? I think we tired him out. Our pressure got to him physically and mentally. He was extremely underwhelming for them last year. I still don't understand why people on this board talk about him like he's some efficient shooter -- he shot less than 40% last year.
I truly do not see him as a guy having primary ball handler dribbling-ability. He's prone to a lot of turnovers ("only" had four yesterday) and does a lot of his damage curling off screens or making deep 3s when his man is not paying attention. It's honestly a shame that Isaacs got injured. If he hadn't, I really think they would be a top 15-20 team and Ashworth would be a lot better in that combo role.
And yeah, I'd say he's the exact prototype of what we're missing offensively. I'm not hating on the guy. But the idol worship by some here is bizarre.
