SJU Portal Targets

If next year isn‘t a tournament team people here might be upset, or whatever. But other than that, what? I don’t exactly think Pitino is on the hot seat.

Ledlum opening back up. Dingle entering. Wilcher late add. Zuby late add. Just some examples of guys we didn’t start talking about until May/June last year.

I really still believe there’s a host of guys we havnt even discussed who at the drop of a dime will suddenly become prime targets. Maybe now, or 4 weeks from now. Yes the portal closes, but somehow a coach gets dismissed, or a grad transfer decides late and names start to emerge.

And this goes for every team, not just us. We may know who's available by May 1, but the NBA draft withdrawal deadline is May 29th.

From a timing perspective, if we're really in the hunt for top guys, I think healthy expectation is not until summer semester enrollment deadlines start kicking in. I'd almost see it as more of a red flag if we're full before then -- it would mean we've lost out on guys.

Also, I wonder if some of the players large NIL demands come down following a few commitments reducing the NIL pool that schools have in place.

To me it would be similar to free agency in a sense where players get nervous as more options decrease.

He is not the classic definition of a power forward, but in terms of 5 guys being out there in college, he will play plenty at the 4 just like he did last year.
Maybe I wasn't paying attention, but I thought he played more of a wing this year.

Kansas picked up a crystal ball for Rylen Griffin, a guard from Alabama, and their women's team got a commitment from AJ Storr's girlfriend (they are also targeting Storr). So if those two guys commit, I can't see how they'd have space for Brea.

But Brea is a guy that can fit with any team. I frankly think he's our second most important target, first being Cliff.

……. Yesterday I saw a tweet from Kolby King in a Butler jersey on his visit tweeting “Butler Nation what do we think?”

Does anyone know where Kolby played this past season, and how he did? Did he start?

Thanks
