Observation : Saturday Kolek tortured Colorado with penetration and many extended left hand drives. He is a lot stronger than people realize, but for a guy who goes left 90% of time, it amazes me teams defending him can never force him right.

I’m no expert but , it seems to me that guarding a lefty is difficult for a right handed defender .
Think of it , this way , if you are a right handed person you use that hand a large percentage of time . It’s a natural reflex .
I think if you a right handed person , you are probably a right leg person too. So , if you are guarding Kolek and he goes left as he almost always does , you being right legged you push off on that leg to follow him . Perfectly natural .

But , being right handed , right legged , there is no reflex or inclination that makes you want to go left either . Which would try and force him to go right . Which he almost never does .

He , like many lefty’s are hard to defend . Plus , he’s very skilled and tricky . And , he’s always looking to pass first . Which he’s also very good at .

All up , he’s hard to defend for anyone . He shoots well from outside and has a great handle , even though it’s left dominated .

The biggest question about Kolek is , since he’s from Rhode Island , how did Cooley ever let him get away to Geo Mason first and then , Marquette ?

Obviously he missed him but , had to know about him .

True, he is very capable as a passer going right but all his own finishes seem to be left side of the rim.

He is such a s smart help defender. Shaka lets him guard the lesser scoring option of other teams forwards. So Kolek can essentially be a second defender on every drive and quarterback the help. Also let’s him stay near rebounding area where he is very good at grabbing and going himself as well. One day we’ll have ours.

Great post Mase

Will Shaka getting to Final 8 finally earn the respect of LMF entitling him to a taste of his “mod shine” homemade brew? Don’t be stubborn now. 😇

Shaka kinda annoys me sometimes especially when he does his defensive stance stuff on the sideline (and often beyond the sideline haha)

But I am happy for the guy getting his career back on track here in the Big East.

That Texas tenure was downright weird. Talent everywhere but never very good

Lunardi buy your racing silks & vanish please

These guys are all worthless. I pointed out weeks before the Conference Tournaments began that four of what he calls “bid stealers” should be factored in. Right here, among other places I reside. There we’re a lot of leagues this year where it looked possible, but if Lunardi factors that in more teams become clearly out of it and more fans start tuning his crap out on ESPN. And also not watching dopey “bubble games” that actually will not matter to those fans in that case. Also on ESPN, mostly.

I already forget what game I was watching Sunday but the calls were awful, and I remarked out loud about it. Next thing you know there he was on the screen and Mrs. IDRAFT yelled “it’s f‘ng Breeding!“

Of course it was.
you married well, my friend!
