The NCAA Tournament Thread

Ackerman and the School AD’s need to take a strong stand with the NCAA. On this Selection Committee farce.
Tell them , none of our BE teams will participate next year , if we see a repeat failure on the Sunday selection show .
I would say , a minimum of 6 BE should be guaranteed to play every year .
Or , else the BE will make other decisions . Including TV rights , etc .
Isn’t that cutting off your nose to spite your face though? Every round UConn, Marquette and Creighton advance the conference gets more money. The way to handle this was for Val Ackerman to be on every major news network in all of our biggest TV markets and blow the lid off this entire farce of an NCAA Tournament Selection Committee. She should be talking about how teams from football conferences were favored and conferences who have their main contracts with CBS and ESPN were favored. Just keep pounding the message home and make it so uncomfortable for them to do it again. But, to not play and walk away from the money to me doesn’t make sense. You would be denying kids the opportunity to play for a national championship also. Thats not right. Now, refusing to let any team play in the NIT is fine. There’s no money in that anyway and it weakens their product. Just my opinion.

Agreed. Val is taking the PC soft political approach.

As much as we shit on Carmine for his ACC takes this year, their teams have shown up in the dance aside from UVA, who shouldn’t have been in anyway

I mean damn even Clemson who were not favored against New Mexico, blew them out and then even made easy work of Baylor.

Pretty surprised by their run so far.
This is nothing. You should see the crap I take every day at the Accatiello homestead. Very kind of you Jack.

I don’t think it would come to that but , if the BE doesn’t present a stronger argument than the Weak Ackerman response to date , the NCCA can still give lip service to her .

The NCAA would be getting so much heat from a number of sources , especially whichever Network gets the next contract that it wouldn’t be a National Championship without BE representation .

And , please spare the notion that not playing in the NCAA tournament is a big issue to players , is shaky , to be honest . Look at all the Football players who say No Mas to post season Bowl Games . I’m surprised and think it’s only a matter of time before BB players jump on that wagon too .

The first rule of Negotiating is to present your hardest argument first and then , go from there .

But , this year was just a fiasco . It’s hard to still believe the stupidity of this Committee .

Lost in the jungle?
Good one. He was a real nice guy. He was like the Mike M. of JJ plus he founded it. Remember, that great pre-game party he held in Philly when we played at Palestra? He got Magic Hat brewery to sponsor it so it was like $2 #9's and free MH paraphernalia. Plus he gave me a medium JJ t shirt I still wear. I do hope he's well.

I knew him well. Went to school together. No idea where or what he’s doing now. For those who talk to our beloved NIL director he would know. They were close.

Best way to explain money made

What an absolute racket - the SEC and big 12 get paid most to flame out of the tournament. What a joke. So corrupt.

We could have all our teams advance to final four and still wouldn’t Match their units.
