Even more hard to understand is why you have any defender doing anything below the 3 point line. Ring the line with 5 guys in a zone making a clear pass to the 3 point area virtually impossible. Beyond stupid.
If only he had a timeout to discuss it..

I do feel for bad Pitt though - which is what started me down this disgusting Acc rabbit hole in the 1st place. I'll partially make their case ONCE more and now NOBODY will dare scoff at me. You know how SJ has 1 win against an Ncaa tournament team? Creighton at home. Pitt has 4 wins against Ncaa tournament teams; 3 were road games and 3 were against sweet 16 teams. They wuz robbed! Hurley saying what Ackerman should be; except she should have started a BE PR campaign 5 minutes after the Selection Show ended and still be hammering from any bully pulpit that would have her.
But not to worry, the NCAA assured her they would relook at a mysterious metric they said a week ago was replaced in importance. But we hear it from a third party talking head mouthpiece rather than Ackerman herself.

Have always said exact same thing yet I’ve never yet seen a college or pro coach do it (obviously don’t see nearly every game but do see tons of games). The other thing that always gets me and I’ve seen it both on the pro and college level is when in a 4 point game a defender puts pressure on a 3 point shooter in the last second or two when only fouling the shooter can cause you to lose the game.

As much as we shit on Carmine for his ACC takes this year, their teams have shown up in the dance aside from UVA, who shouldn’t have been in anyway
I mean damn even Clemson who were not favored against New Mexico, blew them out and then even made easy work of Baylor.

Selection and tournament performance are absolutely mutually exclusive, one is earned over the course of a season (supposedly), the other an absolute one game variable based on multiple factors at a given point in time.
