Transfer Portal

Man how I love reading this and I'm usually humble. mjmaherjr said F everything I'm 53 now and just want to win. Throw my morals in a bag and light it on fire in a bag with a pile of shite and let hurley step on it
53? Man on this board you’re somewhat of a young curmudgeon. I am starting to think you are rewriting “A Christmas Carol” by Dickens. Only instead of you having eaten a ”moldy piece of cheese” perhaps it was a “moldy piece of lobster roll or a bad IPA”. 😂

I don’t remember who mentioned it but I have a bad feeling that the NCAA will soon try to change the transfer portal rules. They hate that Rick is running circles around them. He is using it like a cudgel at this point.

He's doing what every D1 coach would do under the circumstances allowed. I would argue that some coaches may take it a step further prompting the NCAA to step in.

As I have said multiple times, this is college athletics. If morals are high up on your priority list for this team you can expect more mediocrity. If you want to win and compete with everybody else who threw morals out the window, welcome.

So which players on our current roster, if any, withdraw their commitment due to recent roster additions Which would reduce their PT?

If Ledlum commits, I'm not concerned about playing time or any other prospective complications. We have one of the best coaches in the history of college basketball calling the shots. After so many years of disappointment and heart break, it's understandably hard for diehard, long suffering fans to truly trust the process. But as Pitino said during the press conference, he wants to change the culture here. I think we should all do our part in having that happen by sitting back and letting things unfold. Go Johnnies!!!

Someone -- and it really seems like it may be us -- will eventually force the NCAA to do something about this. I do wonder if institutions will be more important than coaches on this though.

Does Hubert Davis have enough power to effect change if he secretly complains to the NCAA? I think Roy did. I don't think we'll ever move in enough same circles as Duke, but can Sheyer wield that much power? K certainly did. How many powerful elder statesmen are left who would 1) complain; and 2) actually be heard?

I figured he couldn't participate if he had classwork to do, but assumed he was somewhere on the St. John's campus.

Incorrect assumption?
A I said yesterday they are both still enrolled at Iona trying to graduate. Without being grad transfers they would need an undergrad waiver.

With Quinn headed to the Portal again he still needs to graduate.

But the larger point is they are not enrolled yet at SJU (and Quinn no longer plans on coming to SJU anyway) so that is why they are not on campus.

Thanks, missed that post.

To me it would have seemed like they were in limbo because both of them announced intentions to leave Iona, so why would Iona continue to let them take classes on their dime? (Unless classes aren't being covered by scholarship.)
