Champagnie

I get Jackson & McLeod who played their best years with other schools. But Tariq played two good years with us and only one with Texas Tech, not sure what he shouldn't count for St. Johns.
Different now because a kid can move wherever and whenever they want
But I always counted the school the kid finished as the school that should get credit

Well the Spurs suck so there is definitely a chance he'll see some run this year.
Who wouldn't want to learn from HOFer Coach Pop? They are my local team and the fan base is excited about the prospect of Victor Wembanyama.

All ended well for Julian winding up on spurs anyway, but random he got bounced from sixers so that Silver could claim mcclung was in the NBA and have white dunk champion.

Anyway McClung was sweet tonight. Everyone wins.

Surprised you didn't accuse McClung of cultural appropriation to go along with your conspiracy theory. Saw many black players celebrating McClung like he was a dunking god or something.

Naaah no culture war here - all in jest. Although he NBA did randomly place mcclung on a roster like 3 days before all star break and poor Julian was odd man out. That was the point, but no big deal.

Actually love mcclung - even liked him at Gtown and before on social media. Psyched for him and he saved the event!

With so many regulars sidelined, recently acquired forwards Julian Champagnie and Sandro Mamukelashvili made their Spurs debut. Each logged more than 10 minutes and scored six points with two 3-pointers while playing meaningful minutes.

“I think they did well,” Popovich said. “They don’t really know too much about what we are doing, but they seem like good guys and they jumped right in and tried to do what we wanted to do.”

For two young players — Champagnie is a rookie and Mamukelashvili a second-year pro — the Spurs represent a great landing spot after they were waived by Philadelphia and Milwaukee, respectively.

Having left veteran-laden teams with championship aspirations, the duo arrived in San Antonio knowing they’ll see action on the youth-filled, lottery-bound club.

“Looking forward to being coached and listening and learning as much as possible,” Mamukelashvili said.

There’s no doubt they would have received the coaching had they remained with the clubs they started the season with, but with the Spurs they’ll also get a chance to play under NBA lights in the final week rather than toiling in the G League.

Good game by Champ today in win against the Hawks.
18 minutes, 11 points, 4-8 FG, 3-5 3PT-A, 3 rebounds.

Not only was it a career high for Julian, but it set the NBA record for most points by a rookie on a Two-way contract. couldn't happen to a better kid, who has worked his tail off. He deserves this and so much more.

Little was expected of him at SJU.
And he proved everyone wrong.

And he's proving everyone wrong again.
