Zuby “Beast II”

We've had some pretty good centers, at SJU, over the years, but did any of them have a better season than Zuby just had?

Considering we are 30-4, we have a complete roster of guys who play for the name on the front.

These guys pass the ball so well. I loved the way the Artest teams passed the ball. This team is as good and as unselfish, especially in finding Zuby wide open underneath.

No one is really aware but Zuby attended a big man's camp last summer. I was sent a video that looked like a highlight reel of a dominant player. I took it with a grain of salt, after all, highlight reels are like movie trailers. But Zuby has become something special with miles more to improve.

Zuby’s best asset is physical. Heis a plus plus athlete, agile, fast, strong. Hard to teach the raw athletic ability which he is just beginning to harness. Becoming strong in the post is one and an area where he can still improve enormously. Outside shot is another area of improvement if he wants to play in the league.
Another thing that has impressed me is his hands. Last year he would have fumbled that bounce pass he got from Kadary on the break leading to a dunk. His hands have improved so much this year.

In terms of team accomplishments no, but in terms of individual stats, yes.

As a Zendon Hamilton averaged the following his last three years

So 20.8 PPG and 10.3 RPG
Jr 16.2 PPG and 9.4 RPG
Sr 15.4 PPG and 8.7 RPG

At the time he was the only 20-10 guy in history of league to not be first team.

I assume that's probably still the case

How comfortable he has become around the rim is incredible. And he has post moveS.. plural! He has looked great spinning baseline over his right shoulder and he’s also finishing with the baby hook over the left shoulder.

what u guys think.... what the potential we start someone taller next to Zub next season? slide Zuby over the to the proverbial "4".... ?

wont be an issue from a Defensive persepective...

Or we continue with Z as our lone "big" ?

I think that’s a real possibility as Pitino has said that he wants Zuby to work on his 3pt shot in the offseason.

You go with Zuby at the 5 with Maker ready to spell him around the under 12 with more time against the Kalks of the country.

I don't know who's available/targeted by us but wouldn't count it out. I don't know if it would be a center per se, but maybe just another really tall forward

O
Wow… you’re that confident in Maker being the two headed monster?

Did he get that redshirt?
I’m the biggest Maker fan here by a mile. His body was nowhere near ready this year.

I don’t think the staff would burn an entire year of his for 90 seconds of game time without knowing they can get it back. Probably doesn’t matter anyway…he’ll he in the NBA in 4 years.
