Zuby “Beast II”

Yea I'm certain. Posted that way before. Beat reporters get ideas from red.fans. not the first time this has happened.
I know you did especially beating the Post. It would not be the first time someone from there used something first posted on this site.

Best thing about Zuby was him to be able to hear our awesome fan cheers in the Bahamas the game after Baylor and the missed fts. Proudest moment I’ve had as a Johnnie fan

Anyone can cheer when things are good, that was next level better
Fans are irrational fanatics by definition. However, I think even though they lost that game vs Baylor people saw the potential in this team Going in we thought “can we hang” with Baylor. When the game was over I think many of us thought “we should have won that game”.

Sure, easy now to view that as an eye opening turning point because right after that we lost another game to Georgia that we should have won. After that we haven’t lost many times at all. Crazy.

Another attribute of Zuby’s is desire and ability to run the court in transition. His dividend there is to often follow-up misses and score. On D he gets back extremely well to prevent scores. This reflects his desire, conditioning & smarts. His teammates know he is consummate role model. Not many bigs out there come close to that quality.

No one is really aware but Zuby attended a big man's camp last summer. I was sent a video that looked like a highlight reel of a dominant player. I took it with a grain of salt, after all, highlight reels are like movie trailers. But Zuby has become something special with miles more to improve.

Zuby’s best asset is physical. Heis a plus plus athlete, agile, fast, strong. Hard to teach the raw athletic ability which he is just beginning to harness. Becoming strong in the post is one and an area where he can still improve enormously. Outside shot is another area of improvement if he wants to play in the league.

Rick has been selling Zuby on his and staff’s ability to help him improve his outside shot for next level readiness. Willing teacher, student = Zuby return.

I would guess that's the plan. However, if some school floats a crazy #, or if the 1st round comes calling, could change

Asked about being “low-paid,” Ejiofor smiled and said: “I appreciate him for that, but, man, I’m the type of person that doesn’t really care about that NIL stuff. All I care about is winning and going there and playing for Johnnies Nation and playing for my teammates. These are the moments that I play for. I play for championships and making history.”

Zuby’s agent tried hard to get to him and duct tape his mouth before saying that, but Matt A installed a trip wire by the agent’s feet which worked perfectly.

A few days he said "The best decision we ever made was to have Zuby come to St. John's. We love the school and its fans." Also has told me how pleased he is that Zuby has grown here in every way possible - as a player, a student, and as a person.

Zuby's future is very bright, no matter where it takes him.

It's hard for me to single out one kid, always is for me, every year. I liked even Curbelo a lot when I spoke with him.

But geez, this group, to a man, is loaded with special kids, who are now the toast of NYC.

Having said all that, I hopebthe NOBULL man puts his money where his mouth is when it comes to Zuby ( and RJ)

You know NOBULL will step up with Zuby and RJ as well as in the portal. He's all in as much as anyone.

I’ve been intentionally reserved with praise for Zuby all year out of fear of losing him. Had a lot to say about the Kalk v Zuby DPOY stuff that I’ll hold until after the portal closes.

Will say this…how good has he been this year operating at the top of the key? He’s so calming there. He decides who gets the dribble handoffs, he screens, he’ll drive, he’ll pull the handoff back and swing it…he’s so good there.

The offensive operator Zuby is the big jump he can make next year. Hes been really solid in that spot this year but he could be dangerous there next year.

Think we’ve got all the big men we need. Maker will give us what staff hoped Vince would this year. He will block EVERYTHING.

Get a Zuby understudy. A top 60 freshman that didn’t play much at a blue blood.
It also depends if Prey comes back. If Prey can make a Zuby type jump then we’ll be fine at the 4/5 with Vince and Maker also.
